Abstract: Methods and systems for a telescopic stick and a data gathering verification system is disclosed. The method includes receiving a schedule for an equipment structure, obtaining parameter data and an ultrasonic transducer (UT) measurement from a telescopic stick, wherein the telescopic stick is configured to generate the UT measurement representing a condition of the equipment structure at an out-of-reach condition monitoring location (CML), and determining a verification assessment, wherein the verification assessment comprises a health report for the equipment structure based on a service acceptable range criterion. The method further includes inputting the UT measurement and parameter data into an artificial intelligence model, producing a degradation prediction from the model, and updating the schedule based on the verification assessment, the degradation prediction, and a service accepted range criterion, wherein the schedule is displayed by a handheld device configured to communicate with the data gathering and verification system.

Abstract: A system includes a tubing positionable within a wellbore and a first downhole communication device positionable to receive acoustic signals from the tubing and to transmit acoustic signals to the tubing. The system also includes a computing device in communication with the first downhole communication device and including a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium that includes instructions that are executable by the processor to perform operations. The operations include receiving a test message including a spectral waveform from a second downhole communication device. The operations further include determining a desired reception frequency for receiving communications from the second downhole communication device using spectral data generated from the spectral waveform. Additionally, the operations include controlling the first downhole communication device to transmit a response message to the second downhole communication device identifying the desired reception frequency.

Abstract: Systems and methods for communicating information acoustically through a plug in a temporarily or permanently abandoned well. The disclosed embodiments use an acoustically transmissive well plug, where an acoustic transmitter coupled to a measurement tool below the plug is coupled to the plug In a manner that is intended to maximize the coupling of the generated acoustic signals to the plug. These signals are then transmitted through the acoustically transmissive plug to an acoustic receiver that is coupled to the upper end of the plug. The acoustic receiver convert the acoustic signals to another form if necessary and forwards the signals to equipment at the surface of the well, or to intermediate transceivers that can relay the signals to the surface.

Abstract: A downhole tool including at least one transmitter, a receiver array, and a controller. Each receiver element of the receiver array is configured to apply variable amplification and a variable time delay to detected acoustic waveforms, wherein the variable amplification is controlled by an amplification factor assigned to the given receiver element, and wherein the variable time delay is controlled by a time delay assigned to the given receiver element. The controller assigns a set of amplification factors and time delays to the receiver elements of the receiver array and combines signals resulting from the application of the variable amplification and the variable time delay to the detected acoustic waveforms such that sensitivity of the receiver elements of the receiver array is focused at a desired zone-of-interest in a wellbore corresponding to the set of amplification factors and time delays assigned to the receiver elements of the receiver array.

Abstract: A method of identifying inflow locations along a wellbore includes obtaining an acoustic signal from a sensor within the wellbore, determining a plurality of frequency domain features from the acoustic signal, and identifying, using a plurality of fluid flow models, a presence of at least one of a gas phase inflow, an aqueous phase inflow, or a hydrocarbon liquid phase inflow at one or more fluid flow locations. The acoustic signal includes acoustic samples across a portion of a depth of the wellbore, and the plurality of frequency domain features are obtained across a plurality of depth intervals within the portion of the depth of the wellbore. Each fluid flow model of the plurality of fluid inflow models uses one or more frequency domain features of the plurality of the frequency domain features, and at least two of the plurality of fluid flow models are different.

Abstract: Locating a loss zone while cementing a well casing in a well bore includes: inserting a fiber-optic cable into the well bore, wherein the fiber optic cable is part of one or more Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensing (DFOS) systems; detecting a loss circulation signature, while cementing the well casing, at a point along the fiber-optic cable by at least one of the one or more DFOS systems; and locating the loss zone within the well bore based on the point along the fiber-optic cable at which the loss circulation signature was detected.
