摘要: A system may include a control system disposed on a well surface, a casing disposed in a wellbore, a first electrical wiring coupled to the control system and the casing within a first section of the wellbore, and a second electrical wiring coupled to various flow control devices in a second section of the wellbore. The first section of the wellbore may be disposed at a first predetermined direction that is different than a second predetermined direction of the second section of the wellbore. The system may further include an electrical connector coupled to the first electrical wiring and the second electrical wiring. The electrical connector may include a mechanical receiver that couples with the first electrical wiring, and a stinger assembly coupled with the second electrical wiring and that connects to the mechanical receiver.

摘要: An inspection system to measure the condition of at least a wall of a ground opening, the inspection system having a head unit for lowering into a borehole during a data collection phase wherein at least one set of test data is collected concerning one or more physical characteristics of the borehole during the data collection phase, the head unit having an internal measurement system and a sensor arrangement with a plurality of sensors facing radially outwardly of a head axis that is generally parallel to at least a portion of a borehole axis, the plurality of sensors allowing the head unit to be moved during the data collection phase without rotation about the head axis, the plurality of sensors at least partially producing the at least one set of test data collected during the data collection phase.

摘要: A method for predicting a stick-slip event includes measuring one or more surface properties using a sensor at the surface. The method also includes measuring one or more downhole properties using a downhole tool in a wellbore. The method also includes determining that the one or more surface properties and the one or more downhole properties match a distribution. The distribution occurs before two or more previously-detected stick-slip events. The method also includes determining a likelihood that a stick-slip event will occur based at least partially upon the distribution that the one or more surface properties and the one or more downhole properties match.

摘要: The use of scintillator compositions having a cubic garnet structure for gamma detection in downhole oil and gas explorations is provided. Specifically, two primary compositions of interest are disclosed, Ca2LnHf2Al3O12 and NaLn2Hf2Al3O12, where Ln is Y, Gd, Tb, or La. Under gamma ray excitation, the electron-hole pairs produced in the garnet lattice structure are trapped by an activator ion to yield an efficient emission in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The cubic garnet structure enables the use of these materials as ceramic scintillators with considerable advantages over related single crystals in various ways as disclosed herein, including reduction in cost and improvement in overall performance and durability.

摘要: A horizontal directional drilling rig is described. The rig can be entirely electrically powered. The performance (or “health”) and/or the life cycle of individual components of the rig can be electronically monitored. This permits identification of specific individual components that are performing in a substandard manner or are not performing properly or have reached the end of their life cycle. Individual improperly performing components or components at the end of their life cycle can thus be specifically identified. The improperly performing component(s) or components at the end of their life cycle can then be replaced. In some embodiments, when a component is identified as performing improperly, the operation of other, properly functioning components of the rig can be modified accordingly to account for the improperly performing component.

摘要: An electric bonnet includes a housing; a guide piston disposed in the housing; an electric motor having a motor shaft; a rear housing connected to the housing; a gearbox assembly disposed in the rear housing, the gearbox assembly being coupled to the motor shaft of the electric motor; and a roller screw assembly disposed in the rear housing. A first end of the roller screw assembly is connected to the gearbox assembly, and a second end of the roller screw assembly is connected to the guide piston. Rotation of the motor shaft of the electric motor transmits rotary motion to the gearbox assembly, which transforms the rotary motion into linear motion using the roller screw assembly. The linear motion of the roller screw assembly actuates the guide piston.

A protection structure extends longitudinally around each wheel to prevent a side of the wheel from contacting a wall of the wellbore. Each wheel extends above and below the protection structure to contact a side of the wellbore.

摘要: Described is a drilling fluid composition with enhanced hole cleaning properties and a method of its use. Following an indication of sticking of a drill pipe during a drilling operation, a drilling fluid composition, including a first exothermic reactant, is injected into a subterranean formation. Then, a drilling fluid composition, including a second exothermic reactant, is injected into the subterranean formation. An exothermic reaction is allowed to occur between the first exothermic reactant and the second exothermic reactant within the subterranean formation.

摘要: Methods, devices and systems are disclosed for magnetically ranging while drilling with a coiled tubing unit or drill pipe by way of a an electrically conducive but environmentally electrically insulated wire installed through a coiled tubing spool or drill pipe complete with electrically insulative subs in the coiled tubing bottom hole assembly or drill pipe. The method and systems allow for the injection of excitation current into the formation by way of selectively electrifying various drill stem components, thereby facilitating current collection on a target tubular which radially emanates a magnetic field about the target well tubular(s). The method and devices allow for the construction of complex downhole current injection configurations which allow for modification of the bottom hole assembly to maximize target well signal generation in the presence of adverse environmental conditions.
