摘要: A modular system of light strips is configured for use on a roadway surface. The light strips are configured to withstand vehicular traffic driving over the light strips. The light strips have a rigid, durable housing protecting a series of LEDs within the housing. LED lenses direct light from the LEDs through the sidewall of the housing at vehicular traffic on the roadway. The channel is filled with a protective material, such as a polymer resin that protects the LEDs and power supply. The modular system includes a power source or can connect to a power grid. The modular system can include a sensor to activate the system and/or to control the light brightness Preferably the light strips connect together or can be substituted for one another to be interchangeable and easily carried, moved, installed and disassembled.

摘要: A pacing system signals runners with lights indicating if the runner is ahead or behind a preset pace as the runner proceeds around a running track. The system includes a controller that provides pace setting, start, stop, pause, and reset functions; pacing stations (e.g., 20) that are placed at intervals around the running track; and a cart for transport and battery charging. Paces are setup in the controller with a specific number of laps and a time per lap. Bright LED lights in LED matrices in the pacing stations signal the runners outdoors in sunlight. The controller wirelessly communicates with the pacing stations to signal the pacing stations to light at intervals determined by the preset pace. The system may support two or more simultaneous paces and variable pacing per lap to accommodate multiple runners.

An awareness engine receives the target data and evaluates the target data for a threat of a collision. An alerting system is adapted to alert the at least one vehicle in the event of a threat of a collision, the alerting system being activated by the awareness engine.

摘要: The invention provides a lighting panel, for use for example within a modular surface system, comprising one or more strips of solid state lighting elements associated with a reflector structure. The lighting panel is adapted for improved uniformity of light intensity across the width of its output area. Lighting elements comprise two or more subsets, each subset adapted to collectively generate a different light intensity profile across the width of the panel output window. The subsets are selectively adapted to generate profiles which, when blended, mutually offset one another's deviations from some common mean intensity across the width of the output window, thereby generating a combined intensity profile of improved uniformity. Embodiments include arrangements in which subsets of lighting elements are adapted to have differing actual or virtual optical path lengths to the reflector surface. Also provided are embodiments further comprising an acoustically absorbing back surface, for providing an acoustic dampening function.

摘要: A thoroughfare lighting device includes a housing to be attached to a thoroughfare surface, and including sidewalls that taper. A plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) selectively illuminate individual lanes, including a first set of LEDs to emit a generally white light, and a second set of LEDs to emit colored light that is observable by an observer. A driver circuit operates the second set of LEDs to emit colored light illuminating a single lane indicating a condition of the individual lane. Optics may be carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with at least a portion of the plurality of LEDs. A traffic sensor communicatively coupled to the driver circuit and configured to sense a traffic pattern and generate information regarding traffic on the associated thoroughfare. The driver circuit is configured to operate the plurality of LEDs responsive to the information generated by the traffic sensor.

摘要: A light source, for example a light emitting diode, can emit light and have an associated optical axis. The source can be deployed in applications where it is desirable to have illumination biased laterally relative to the optical axis, such as in a street luminaire where directing light towards a street is beneficial. The source can be coupled to an optic that comprises an inner surface facing the source and an outer surface that is opposite the inner surface. The inner surface can comprise a refractive surface that receives light headed away from the optical axis of the light source, for example opposite the street. The refractive surface can form the received light into a beam. The outer surface of the optic can reflect the beam back across the optical axis, for example so that light headed away from the street is redirected towards the street.
