Abstract:
A fluid cooling device includes an endothermic cover, an endothermic base and a fluid pump. The endothermic cover has a port; and a heat exchange chamber formed between the longitudinally affixed endothermic base and endothermic cover, and a heat exchange unit installed in the heat exchange chamber. The fluid pump includes a pump housing and a driving element, and the pump housing has a pump space and a coupling tube communicating to each other. A vane of a driving element is received in the pump space, and the coupling tube is longitudinally plugged into the port and seamlessly combined and fixed to each other, and the pump housing maintains an insulation gap with the endothermic cover through the coupling tube. Therefore, the heat of the heat sink will not be conducted to the fluid pump and no seam is produced and thus no waterproof gasket is needed.
Abstract:
A submersible well pump is driven by an electrical motor. A thrust bearing module between the pump and the motor has a base secured to and extending downward from a housing. The base has a motor end connector and an axial bore in fluid communication with lubricant in the motor. A shaft extends through the bore and into the housing. A thrust bearing assembly has a lower end at an upper end of the base. A lubricant pump mounted in the bore and coupled to the shaft pumps lubricant upward into the chamber. A passage has an inlet port in the chamber and an outlet port within the bore for returning lubricant pumped by the lubricant pump. The passage extends internally through the base and has a number of turns encircling the bore.
Abstract:
A processing system utilizing a supercritical fluid for treating a substrate is described as having a pump for recirculating the supercritical fluid over the substrate. For various applications in supercritical fluid processing, the fluid temperature for the treatment process can elevate above the temperature acceptable for safe operation of the pump. Therefore, in accordance with one embodiment, a fraction of supercritical fluid from the primary recirculating flow of supercritical fluid over the substrate is circulated from the pressure side of the pump, through a heat exchanger to lower the temperature of the supercritical fluid, through the pump, and it is returned to the primary flow on the suction side of the pump. In accordance with yet another embodiment, supercritical fluid is circulated through the pump from an independent source to vent.
Abstract:
In a hot and cold water distribution system, cooled down water in the hot water distribution line is automatically drained toward the cold water distribution line by a connection system consisting essentially of a centrifugal pump in series with a valve oriented to prevent the flow of cold water into the hot water distribution line or of hot water into the cold water distribution line by the same valve.
Abstract:
A pump for a spa or swimming pool adapted to heat the liquid being pumped includes a rigid plastic housing fabricated from (1) a first housing part having a volute portion defining a suction chamber enclosing a pump impeller and having an outlet therefrom and a boss defining an inlet thereto and (2) a second housing part having a discharge outlet and a tubular inlet. A sleeve extends between the tubular inlet and volute portion boss to define a suction inlet to the suction chamber. A body extension inserted between the first and second housing parts defines a pressure chamber surrounding the suction inlet and suction chamber and in communication with the suction chamber outlet and discharge outlet. An electrical heater is positioned in the pressure chamber to heat the liquid pumped by the impeller and is controlled by temperature and pressure sensing devices positioned in the pressure chamber.
Abstract:
A heat exchanger for heating or cooling a liquid, comprises a stationary outer shell and an drum rotatable coaxially in the shell. The outer periphery of the drum is adjacent the inner periphery of the shell and a stationary heat exchanger is disposed within the drum. Liquid to be heated or cooled is fed into the drum past the stationary heat exchanger and then between the outer periphery of the drum and the inner periphery of the shell. Impeller structure is disposed on .[.the.]. .Iadd.and .Iaddend.extends axially along the outer periphery of the drum, such as a helicoidal vane, to .[.more.]. .Iadd.move .Iaddend.the liquid is a circuitous path along the inner periphery of the stationary shell upon rotation of the drum.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a compact and integrated fan, pump, and heat exchanger system where air-cooling is performed via the fan, liquid cooling is performed via a pump, and the drilled pump diffusers act as a heat exchanger. The pump has drilled diffusers through which liquid passes into the volute, the drilled diffusers are streamlined and thus act as fan stator blades. Hot liquid is centrifuged and carried inside the drilled diffusers while air flows around the outside surfaces of the drilled diffusers. A heat transfer occurs where heat transfers from the hot liquid into the air stream.
Abstract:
In one embodiment of the invention, a pump includes a pump housing, an impeller, and a motor. The pump housing has a pump chamber and a heat receiving plate to couple to a heat generating unit, such as a CPU. The impeller is provided in the pump chamber. The motor couples to the impeller to rotate it. A region of the heat receiving plate projects further outward than other regions to couple the heat receiving plate to the IC chip.
Abstract:
A thermal barrier for a nuclear reactor coolant pump includes a stack of pancake cooling coils encircling the pump shaft where it enters the pump chamber. This stack of coiling coils has an irregular peripheral surface formed by axially extending, diametrically opposed, inlet and outlet tubes which are circumferentially indexed for each pancake coil. The inner surface of a cylindrical cover has a complimentary inner peripheral surface formed by two sets of diametrically opposed cascaded steps so that the volume of the annulus between the coil stack and cover is minimized to reduce stratification of cooling water injected into the cover. A collar around the pump shaft at the opening in the end wall of the cover extends axially into the coil stack to prevent vortices produced by the spinning shaft from flowing across the end wall of the cover, while circumferentially spaced holes in the collar prevent significant alteration of the thermal conditions of the pancake coiling coils. An integral flange on the collar serves as a shim for the stack of coils. An external insulator includes a sleeve with a low coefficient of thermal expansion shrink fit over a groove in the outer surface of the cylindrical cover to form an annular chamber which is divided by a number of nested cans into a plurality of concentric sections each containing stagnant reactor coolant.
