    摘要: A piston for use in a GDCI engine cooperates with the wall of a cylinder defined in the engine and with a cylinder head to define a combustion chamber. The surface of the piston that faces the cylinder head defines a bowl that is configured to receive fuel that is dispensed from a fuel injector that is located in the cylinder head substantially along the central axis of the cylinder. The bowl is configured such that substantially all of the injected fuel associated with a combustion event reaches a localized equivalence ratio greater than 0.0 and less than or equal to 1.2 at a time immediately preceding initiation of the combustion event.

    摘要: A fuel injection control device of a diesel engine is provided. The device includes an engine body, a fuel injection valve, a turbocharger, a low-pressure EGR system, and a controller for operating the engine body. Within a predetermined high engine-load operating range, the controller controls the fuel injection valve to operate the low-pressure EGR system and perform main and post injections. Within the operating range where the post injection is performed, when the engine load is lower than a predetermined load, an injection amount of the post injection is set to a first injection amount and an injection timing of the post injection is set to a first timing, and when the engine load is higher than the predetermined load, the injection amount of the post injection is set to a second injection amount and the injection timing of the post injection is set to a second timing.

According to an operating state of the engine, the controller switches an ignition mode between a compression-ignition mode in which compression-ignition combustion is performed by causing the mixture gas to self-ignite and combust, and a spark-ignition mode in which spark-ignition combustion is performed by igniting the mixture gas with the ignition plug to combust. The controller switches the ignition mode from the spark-ignition mode to the compression-ignition mode by performing a transition mode in which a temperature inside the cylinder is forcibly decreased and combustion is performed.

An engine is disclosed comprising at least two cylinders with spark plugs therein; an integrated exhaust manifold, the integrated exhaust manifold having a wall portion and an adjustable shutoff element within the wall portion wherein the wall portion divides exhaust pipes of the at least two cylinders and the adjustable shutoff element allows exhaust gas from a first cylinder into an exhaust pipe of an adjacent cylinder. Hot exhaust gas may be taken into an adjacent cylinder serving as ignition gas and allowing the engine of the present disclosure to undergo spark ignition at low loads, or autoignition at high loads.
