    摘要: A spool valve for controlling a twin phaser for coupling a drive member to two driven members and to enable the phase of the two driven members to be varied independently includes a bore operably associated with the twin phaser, fluid channels opening into the bore, and a spool. The spool is received in and is moveable relative to the bore so as to selectively open and close the fluid channels in a predetermined manner, thereby providing a fluid communication between the spool and the twin phaser, and varying a phase of output members relative to an input member. The spool and the fluid channels are configured so that an axial displacement of the spool relative to the bore serves to control a phase of a first output member, and a rotation of the spool relative to the bore serves to control a phase of a second output member.

    摘要: In one form a rocker is disclosed coupled with a valve stem at one end and a cam follower at the other end. The rocker is operable to rotate about a fixed axis. In one form the cam follower includes a set of lower rollers operable to follow one cam lobe and an upper roller operable to follow another cam lobe. A leaf spring can be used to couple the cam follower with the rocker. A cam shaft can have a nested configuration including an inner shaft, an intermediate tube, and an outer tube. Cam lobes can be fastened to the cam shaft in one form by fastening through each of the inner shaft, intermediate tube, and outer tube, and in another form by attaching at least two devices inserted from either side of the cam shaft and that are not inserted at least through the inner shaft.

A variable valve system of an internal combustion engine E includes rocker arms rocked by the action of valve driving force of cams with each lift quantity variable mechanism varying a maximum lift quantity of an intake valve and an exhaust valve. The lift quantity variable mechanism includes a lifter that is driven by the cam, and makes the valve driving force act on the rocker arm and a lifter holder that supports the lifter, and is driven by an electric motor and is rocked. The lifter is movably supported by the lifter holder. Maximum lift quantity is varied by varying a position in which the lifter abuts on the rocker arm according to a position in which the lifter holder is turned.

    摘要: A valve train of an internal combustion engine is provided with a plurality of camshaft supports arranged on a support member of the engine, and a camshaft is supported on the camshaft supports. The camshaft has valve operating cams thereon for opening and closing engine valves of engine. A torque reducing mechanism is provided to apply a counter torque to the camshaft to suppress torque fluctuation of the camshaft caused by reaction forces applied to the cams by the engine valves. The torque reducing mechanism has a rotating member that rotates together with the camshaft, and a counterforce applying member for applying a counterforce to the rotating member to apply a counter torque to the camshaft. The counterforce applying member is supported on a connecting member connecting adjacent ones of the camshaft supports. The torque reducing mechanism suppresses torque fluctuation of the camshaft, suppresses increase in the weight of the camshaft, and suppresses increase in the size of the engine, ensuring a necessary supporting rigidity for supporting a counterforce applying mechanism included in the torque reducing mechanism.

    摘要: A variable phase drive mechanism is described for providing drive from an engine crankshaft to two sets of cams. The drive mechanism comprises a drive member 32 connectable for rotation with the engine crankshaft and two driven members 38 and 40, each connectable for rotation with a respective one of the two sets of cams. Each of the driven members 38, 40 is connected by a vane-type hydraulic coupling for rotation with the drive member 32. The hydraulic coupling between the drive and driven members is such as to enable the angular position of each of the driven members 38 and 40 to be varied relative to the drive member 32 independently of the other driven member.

In one embodiment, the dynamic regeneration valve is configured to enable the cam phase actuator to switch between operating in an oil pressure actuated mode and a cam torque actuated mode when adjusting the rotational phase of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft.
