摘要: An energy storage system converts variable renewable electricity (VRE) to continuous heat at over 1000° C. Intermittent electrical energy heats a solid medium. Heat from the solid medium is delivered continuously on demand. Heat delivery via flowing gas establishes a thermocline which maintains high outlet temperature throughout discharge. The delivered heat which may be used for processes including power generation and cogeneration. In one application, the energy storage system provides higher-temperature heat to a conventional lower-temperature heat source to boost the temperature of a thermal power cycle working fluid to a turbine, thereby increasing efficiency of the power cycle.

摘要: In one embodiment, a thermal energy storage power plant includes a thermal accumulator to accumulate thermal energy and heat a thermal medium with the thermal energy, and a steam generator to generate steam using the thermal medium. The plant further includes a first path to convey the thermal medium from the accumulator to the generator, and a second path to convey the thermal medium from the generator to the accumulator. The plant further includes an auxiliary module provided on the first path, and a bypass path to convey the thermal medium flowing through the second path to the auxiliary module by bypassing the accumulator, wherein the auxiliary module is supplied with a first thermal medium from the accumulator via the first path, supplied with a second thermal medium from the second path via the bypass path, and supplies a third thermal medium to the generator via the first path.

The cavities facilitate rapid, uniform heating via reradiation. Heat delivery via flowing gas establishes a thermocline which maintains high outlet temperature throughout discharge. Gas flows through structured pathways within the array, delivering heat which may be used for processes including calcination, hydrogen electrolysis, steam generation, and thermal power generation and cogeneration. Groups of thermal storage arrays may be controlled and operated at high temperatures without thermal runaway via deep-discharge sequencing. Forecast-based control enables continuous, year-round heat supply using current and advance information of weather and VRE availability. High-voltage DC power conversion and distribution circuitry improves the efficiency of VRE power transfer into the system.

摘要: A method may include obtaining reservoir data for a geological region of interest. The method may further include obtaining turbine data regarding a supercritical carbon dioxide power (sCO2) turbine. The method may further include obtaining carbon emission data for a well coupled to the geological region of interest. The method may further include determining predicted production data and predicted carbon emission data using a machine-learning model, the reservoir data, the turbine data, and the carbon emission data. The method may further include transmitting a command to a control system based on the predicted production data and the predicted carbon emission data. The command may adjusts an amount of carbon dioxide that is distributed to an injection well and the sCO2 turbine. The command achieves a predetermined production rate at the well and a predetermined carbon footprint.

摘要: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for reactor power control of a steam turbine power generation system including a reactor, a high-pressure turbine to which steam is supplied from the reactor through a main steam pipe, a low-pressure turbine to which the steam discharged from the high-pressure turbine is supplied via a moisture separator reheater, a branch pipe branched from the main steam pipe to be connected to the moisture separator reheater, a generator connected to the low-pressure turbine, a condenser for condensing the steam discharged from the low-pressure turbine, a condensate pump for feeding condensate condensed by the condenser, and feed water heaters for heating the condensate, the apparatus including a branch pipe control valve provided on the branch pipe and a control unit for controlling an opening degree of the branch pipe control valve.

摘要: A closed cycle plant for converting thermal power to mechanical or electrical power including: a closed circuit inside which a working fluid circulates according to a predetermined circulation direction, a volumetric expander configured to receive at the inlet the working fluid in a gaseous state. The volumetric expander includes: a jacket having an inlet and an outlet for enabling the introduction and discharge the working fluid; an active element housed in said jacket and suitable for defining, in cooperation with said jacket, a variable volume expansion chamber; a main shaft; a valve active that opens and closes the inlet and outlet, and a generator connected to the main shaft. The valve includes a regulation device configured to vary the duration of the introduction condition, or the maximum through cross-section of the inlet.
