    摘要： Methods of forming polarized panes for variable transmission windows are disclosed. The polarized panes are formed from transparent substrates that are brushed with a brushing pattern that varies continuously in a select direction over each of one or more periods. A layer of polarizable material such as POLARCOAT material can be deposited on and responds to the brushed surface by forming a polarization pattern that substantially matches the brushing pattern and thus also includes one or more periods.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for clamping a panel, such as a glass panel, with no notch or drilled hole. The apparatus includes a base and two opposite opposing clamp halves. The lower edges of the clamp halves have downwardly extending cam surfaces. Inwardly extending arms are formed near the bottom of the clamp halves. A retainer is positionable above the arms and base. A machine screw is turned to pull the retainer to pull the arms towards the base and force the cam surfaces against the base. This causes convergence of the clamp halves by the geometry of the cams.

    摘要： The present invention provides a blast resistant assembly for use as a window, door, or the like, that is capable of withstanding a bomb blast, hurricane, tornado, or other strong force. The assembly includes a composite panel that comprises a glass sheet bonded to a polymeric layer, and a frame that surrounds the composite panel. In the event of an explosion or other strong force, the composite panel is secured within the frame by one or more retainers. Each retainer includes an extension that is embedded within the polymeric layer. The composite panel may also be pivotally mounted to the frame to facilitate deflection of the composite panel during a blast, and to provide a means for emergency exit.

    摘要： A window framework for mounting a glass pane in an aperture of a panel. The window framework includes an exterior frame having a peripheral wall shaped for fitting with and extending into the aperture. The peripheral wall extends between exterior and interior sides of the panel, and is provided along the periphery thereof with an abutment member adjacent to the exterior side. The wall is also provided with stop means adjacent to the interior side. The window framework also includes removable locking means having a flexible element lockable with the stop means when the locking means is in a locking position. The locking means is also provided with an element for holding the glass pane in position with the aid of the abutment member when the locking means is in the locking position. The window framework further includes a securing means for securing the exterior frame to the panel in the aperture. A method for mounting a glass pane in an aperture of a panel is also provided.
