摘要: Geocomposite articles that can provide a barrier against high conductivity water e.g., ocean water, are described and their method of manufacture, for waterproofing surfaces that contact high conductivity water. The geocomposite article mat includes a woven or non-woven geotextile sheet or mat containing a powdered or granular partially cross-linked acrylamide/acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer across its entire major surface(s). The powdered or granular copolymer has an unexpectedly high free-swell when hydrated with High Conductivity water, such as ocean water. A liquid-impermeable cover sheet is adhered to the upper major surfaces of the filled copolymer-carrying geotextile to provide a primary high conductivity water barrier layer that, if ruptured, is sealed by the swell of an underlying layer of water-insoluble, partially cross-linked acrylamide/acrylic acid copolymer.

摘要: Paper-based elongate structures suitable for use as lumber substitutes, articles of manufacture made thereof, kits of materials including such structures, and machines and methods for making the same. Elongate structures according to the invention include a hollow outer portion formed of corrugated fiberboard sheet material and an accordion-folded inner support formed of corrugated fiberboard sheet material. The hollow outer portion has four outer surfaces that define a rectangle when viewed in cross-section transverse to a longitudinal axis of the elongate structure. The accordion-folded inner support is enclosed within the hollow outer portion. The inner support includes a plurality of first spaced-apart peaks that contact a first inner surface of the hollow outer portion and a plurality of second spaced-apart peaks that contact an opposing second inner surface of the hollow outer portion. The accordion-folded inner support structure improves the beam strength, crush resistance and lateral strength of the elongate structure.

摘要: An apparatus, for allowing control of liquid level on a site, comprising a hollow stake body comprising lateral openings for allowing liquid thereinto when the apparatus is positioned into the ground, a stake tip at one end and a hit plate receiver at an opposite end. A method for controlling liquid level on an excavation site comprising positioning the apparatus at one location on the site, positioning a hit plate on the apparatus, repeatedly hitting the hit plate until at least one opening is below ground at a liquid control depth, removing the hit plate and installing a pump for pumping liquid accumulated in the apparatus. A mesh construction, for use with the apparatus, comprising a first punctured cover, a second punctured cover and a mesh assembly, comprising at least one filtration mesh, sandwiched between the first and the second punctured covers for allowing liquid therethrough.

摘要: System and methods for waterproofing a below-grade wall of a structure. The system comprises a waterproof membrane mounted directly or indirectly to an excavation wall within which the wall of the structure is to be constructed. A plurality of elongate waterstops are affixed to the waterproof membrane and arranged to form a plurality of compartments. A plurality of distribution tubes having apertures are affixed to the waterproof membrane to allow an injectable sealing grout to be injected through the distribution tubes and out of the apertures into a corresponding compartment. A plurality of supply tubes are installed in fluid communication with the plurality of distribution tubes with each of the supply tubes extending to a location on the interior of the wall to be constructed.
