Abstract: A method for stabilizing a slab foundation comprises a narrow, vertical moisture barrier assembly spaced outside and surrounding the perimeter grade beam of the slab foundation by a predetermined distance, and extends to preferably five feet below surface grade. The narrow trench for the barrier is preferably less than three inches wide. A membrane formed of a synthetic composition forms a moisture barrier against one wall of the narrow trench, and is held in place by back fill. The moisture barrier is intended for use in expansive soils that are subject to shrinking and swelling.

Abstract: Polymer Rubber Gel is heated to an elevated temperature and sprayed against the exposed rock to form a generally uniform surface. The Polymer Rubber Gel can be sprayed on the rock surface using a heated want coupled to a heated kettle. Then, a layer of I polyethylene is formed against the polymer rubber gel layer. Finally, a finish layer such as concrete, tile, brick or segmental wall block is placed against the outer side of the polyethylene layer.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use of a trenching or digging box which incorporates de-watering equipment that draws water into the lowermost portions of the box and pumps the water out of the box. This de-watering equipment can be retrofit into existing trench boxes by modification of the existing blade or lowermost portion of the box or the addition of a blade or lowermost portion. Slots or perforations in the blade portion or lower portions filter debris in the first instance. Additional or alternative filtering can be accomplished by lengths of perforated or slotted pipes inside the walls of the trench box, especially near the lower portions. Water can be drawn from either or both ends of the trench box. Attachments can be used to focus de-watering and specific areas of concern. De-watering can be from one or both of the side walls of the trench box.
