Abstract:
A modified expansion/construction joint and a method of forming the joint are disclosed, wherein all or a portion of a non-structural expansion/construction joint is widened through a sawing or other cutting process, a cable is placed in the resulting microtrench or on a bottom fill or backer material followed by top fill or backer material, and the microtrench is then sealed with a conventional crack sealer.
Abstract:
Methods, compositions and systems for prolonging the lives of transportation surfaces, including pavement, runways, bridges and parking structures include chemically protecting the transportation surfaces. Chemical protection may be accompanied by physical alteration of the transportation surface, which may enhance one or both of a microtexture and a macrotexture of the transportation surface.
Abstract:
A machine for cleaning residual and foreign materials from random cracks and expansion joints in pavement subsequent to the opening of such cracks and joints and preparatory to placement of filler-sealer materials therein. The machine includes an open wheeled carriage which carries a platform between its side rails and an engine is mounted on the platform to drive a rotary brush and to drive a blower mechanism. The engine platform is pivotably connected to the carriage for raising and lowering the rotary brush, and the outlet from the blower mechanism is fixed to the wheeled carriage immediately behind the rotary brush.
Abstract:
A pneumatic cleaning system for pavement joints controlled and driven by a motor. A wheeled housing carries a nozzle system where a stream of pressurized or forced air is directed through rotating nozzles to clean the joint surfaces. The RPM of the motor are selectively controlled by actuation of a throttle by the operator, and allows the operator to selectively control the rate of rotation of the nozzles are required by the state of the surface to be cleaned. A vacuum is further positioned to remove the debris dislodged by the pneumatic system. A brush or skirt component further loosens debris for removal and contains the debris within the cleaning area for controlled removal by vacuum suction. A frame may be operably connected to the cleaning base allowing the operator to stand/walk within the frame when moving the cleaning base and where the frame is a support for at least a vacuum hose.
Abstract:
Pavement repair equipment designed to hold sand-blasting hoses or other similar devices to clean joints preparatory to sealing those joints. The equipment is mobile being adapted to be moved by an outside powered device and is adapted to move a sand-blasting nozzle along either a longitudinal or transverse joint in the paved surface and to hold a nozzle adjustable at a plurality of angles to the surface. Other equipment which might be held by the equipment would include vacuum nozzles or sealant applicators.
Abstract:
Methods, compositions and systems for prolonging the lives of transportation surfaces, including pavement, runways, bridges and parking structures include physically altering the transportation surface and chemically protecting the transportation surfaces. Physical alteration of a transportation surface may include physically altering one or both of a microtexture and a macrotexture of the transportation surface. Chemical protection of a transportation surface may include hardening and/or densifying the transportation surface. The transportation surface may be chemically protected while physically altering the transportation surface or after the transportation surface has been physically altered.
Abstract:
A highly maneuverable mobile abrasive entrained high pressure fluid jet apparatus having a mobile framework for moving one or multiple abrasive entrained high pressure fluid jet nozzles in both the horizonal and transverse directions and a swivel connection for rotating the one or multiple fluid jet nozzles to provide for scarifying large sections of pavement, removing large sections of pavement, or cutting a large circular perimeter of pavement to provide for removing manhole type portions of pavement.
