Abstract:
Methods, compositions and systems for prolonging the lives of transportation surfaces, including pavement, runways, bridges and parking structures include chemically protecting the transportation surfaces. Chemical protection may be accompanied by physical alteration of the transportation surface, which may enhance one or both of a microtexture and a macrotexture of the transportation surface.
Abstract:
A method for cutting pavement of an asphalt road or a concrete road in a circle for installation of a manhole, by using a cutting blade which has a pavement cutting edge serves as a tip for cutting the pavement and side edges serve as an inclined cutting surface to bore an inside of the pavement cut by the pavement cutting edge, thereby cutting the pavement in a frusto-conical shape.
Abstract:
To make a concrete roadway; a continuous section of concrete is poured and cut at an angle of between 5 degrees and 45 degrees downwardly in the direction of traffic flow, to form an angled cut with an overlying surface that can be pressed downwardly by a vehicle to reduce movement of the concrete with respect to the sections on either side of a joint in the pavement. With this cut, vehicles will press a top layer downwardly against a bottom layer. A rotary saw blade mounted at an angle to the roadway is used to cut the concrete.

Abstract:
A pavement coring machine having rotating cutting heads of various diameter, the optimum speed of rotation of the heads varying with the diameter of the cutting head and the nature of the pavement being cored has a direct reading tachometer positioned to be observed by an operator of the machine, the tachometer being operatively connected to display the speed of rotation of the cutting head. A method of operating the machine includes determining the optimum speed of rotation of a cutting head, and regulating the speed of the cutting head as displayed by the direct reading tachometer.
Abstract:
A drill apparatus for providing a drain hole in curbing comprises a core drill mounted for longitudinal movement along a horizontal post held between a drill frame and a hooking member positioned in hooking relation with the curb. The horizontal post is tightened in compression while a pair of chains extend between the hooking member and the drill frame for holding the frame in firm contact with the curbing.
Abstract:
An excavation apparatus includes a supporting linkage mountable to a vehicle, and a rotary spindle operable to drive a coring element about a cutting axis. The supporting linkage supports the rotary spindle and is operable to displace the rotary spindle relative to a ground surface. The supporting linkage can lower the rotary spindle to a deployed position and raise the rotary spindle to a stored position. The cutting axis can be maintained in a vertical direction in the deployed and stored positions. The rotary spindle can move relative to the supporting linkage about a hinge axis. The hinge axis can be generally parallel to the vertical direction.
Abstract:
A cutting attachment apparatus and method comprise an attachment frame, and a host machine interface coupled with the attachment frame for coupling the attachment with a host machine. A cutting assembly is coupled with the attachment frame. A cut insertion depth assembly is coupled with the attachment frame and the cutting assembly for altering the insertion depth of a cut of the cutting assembly, and a cut angle assembly is coupled with the attachment frame and the cutting assembly for altering an angle of the cut of the cutting assembly.
Abstract:
Apparatus for cutting concrete curbs or other fixed structures includes an articulated saw support operable to move a saw to position the saw blade in horizontal or vertical planes or canted relative to one or both of the horizontal and vertical planes.
