Alternatively, the media coatings also include additional additives. The ratio of cationically modified clay to cationically modified silica varies in the coating formulation from about 1% to about 99%. Desirably, the ratio of the cationically modified clay to cationically modified silica varies from about 10% to about 50%. More desirably, the ratio of cationically modified clay to cationically modified silica varies from about 25% to about 35%. The ratio of the total cationically modified clay and cationically modified silica to binder varies from about 20% to about 80%. Desirably, the ratio of the total cationically modified clay and cationically modified silica to binder varies from about 65% to about 75%.

摘要: An interior base material is obtained by a method comprising a step of treating with a treating agent which comprises (A) a water-insoluble water-absorbent resin having a water absorbency to pure water for 50 to 1,000 ml/g and a particle size of 0.1 to 100 .mu.m, (B) a polyoxyalkylene nonionic surfactant and/or an anionic surfactant, and (C) a solvent having the boiling point of 50 to 250.degree. C. A process for printing the thus-treated interior base material comprises applying a dye ink having a viscosity of 1 to 100 cps by an ink-jet method, or applying a textile printing dye paste having a viscosity of 100 to 10,000 cps by a textile printing method followed by a heat-color developing treatment. The present invention provides a printed object with excellent sharpness, penetration effect enabling uniform printing from the surface to the deep part of the base material even to a base material having a thick three-dimentional structure or a base material having a long pile and thickness such as moquette, with an excellent build-up.

摘要: A coating composition which encompasses an aqueous dispersion of from about 2 to about 40 percent by dry weight, based on the dry weight of the coating composition, of a cationic polymer; and from about 60 to about 98 percent by dry weight, based on the dry weight of the coating composition, of a nonionic or cationic binder. The coating composition is thermally fusible and adapted to be receptive to ink jet inks and to retain the ink jet inks after being thermally fused. Alternatively, the coating composition may encompass an aqueous dispersion of a powdered thermoplastic polymer and from about 10 to about 150 dry parts by weight of a binder, based on 100 dry parts by weight of the powdered thermoplastic polymer. Desirably, the coating composition will encompass an aqueous dispersion of a powdered thermoplastic polymer; from about 2 to about 50 dry parts by weight, based on 100 dry parts by weight of the powdered thermoplastic polymer, of a cationic polymer; and from about 10 to about 150 dry parts by weight, based on 100 dry parts by weight of the powdered thermoplastic polymer, of a nonionic or cationic binder. The coating composition also may contain from about 1 to about 5 parts by weight, based on the weight of the coating composition, of a surfactant. When applied to a substrate, the coating composition permits printing on the substrate with ink jet inks to give a printed image which is durable, especially in the presence of water.
