    摘要： The device for cutting textile material and sealing the edges of the cut material comprises a heated resistance wire of round cross section supported in a supporting means. The wire forms a flattened central portion shaped to form a semi-circular bow having a symmetrical shape with a curved outer edge ground to a feather cutting edge, an inner edge and two lateral flat faces parallel to each other along which the edges of the textile material are moved after being cut by combined mechanical and thermal action of the wire. The edges of the textile material are sealed thereby. Since the temperature of the wire can be kept relatively low, no ridges of melted material are formed along the edges of the textile material.

    摘要： A device for trimming an edge of a tubular article to form a portion of a pantyhose prior to the sewing of a gusset. A support is rotatable about its vertically disposed central axis and cooperates with a mask supported independently of the support and normally stationary. The mask has slots with which trimmers in the form of electrical heating elements cooperate, each of the trimmers being movable independently of the other relative to the mask. The support is rotated relative to the mask and one of the trimmers penetrates and cuts the cloth by heat action and enters one of the slots in the mask so that during continued rotation of the support an edge of the article is trimmed from the remainder by the aforesaid trimmers to remain engaged about the support as an annular band. Rotation of the support is then stopped and the other trimmer is extended towards the mask to penetrate the annular band and enter the other slot to sever the annular band by heat action and convert the band into an elongate ribbon which is then drawn off into a suction duct having a mouth mounted for movement with the other trimmer.

    摘要： A segment of a textile fabric is separated by rolling the fabric while at least substantially weakening at least one predetermined portion of the yarns of the fabric. In the roll, a plane of weakness generally perpendicular to the axis about which the fabric was rolled permits the segment of the roll to one side of the plane to be readily separable from the segment to the other side thereof. In a preferred arrangement, at least one separable segment is a disposable fringed edge formed during interweaving of strands of warp and filling yarns, so that the fringed edge is readily taken-up during formation of the fabric and yet is readily separated when no longer desired or necessary.
