Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; and(b) a compound selected from the group consisting of: (i) an ester-containing heterocycle; (ii) an amide-containing heterocycle; and (iii) a pyrimidine, wherein the ester-containing heterocycle and the amide-containing heterocycle have a hydrocarbyl group containing 6 to 40 carbon atoms. The invention further provides for a method of supplying an internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition.
Abstract:
A method in which an improved lubricating composition containing ionic liquids is used to enable operation of chains, steel belts, wheel bearings, roller bearings, sliding bearings and electric motors for at least 48 hours by reducing the evaporation loss and the lackification tendency of the lubricant due to the lubricant being protected against thermal and oxidative attack.
Abstract:
Provided is a detergent-dispersant for a lubricant having excellent detergency and dispersibility effects. Specifically provided are: a detergent-dispersant including a heterocyclic compound having a heterocyclic skeleton derived from a compound selected from the group consisting of pyridines, pyrroles, pyrimidines, pyrazoles, pyridazines, imidazoles, pyrazines, triazines, triazoles, tetrazoles, oxazoles, oxadiazoles, thiazoles, thiadiazoles, furans, dioxanes, pyrans, and thiophenes; and an additive composition for a lubricant and a lubricant composition, each containing the detergent-dispersant.
Abstract:
Low molecular weight oxazine ring-containing Mannich base condensates of hydroxy aromatic compounds, aldehyde; and amine. Such compounds are useful as soot dispersants in lubricating oils when used alone, or in combination with high molecular weight dispersants.
Abstract:
C.sub.5 -C.sub.9 lactone based adduct materials are made by reacting a C.sub.5 -C.sub.9 lactone with a polyol to form a lactone adduct intermediate, and thereafter reacting the intermediate with an aliphatic hydrocarbyl saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched chain monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acylating agent having from about one to about 165 total carbon atoms in said straight or branched chain to insure that the resulting lactone adduct is hydrocarbon soluble. The resulting adduct material are useful per se, as oil soluble dispersant additives, and are useful in fuel and lubricating oil compositions including concentrates containing the additives.
Abstract:
Oil-soluble 2 and/or 8 alkyl substituted 1-aza-3, 7-dioxabicyclo [3.3.0] oct-5-yl methyl alcohols which are the reaction products of an aldehyde and tris [hydroxy-methyl] aminomethane (THAM) are mineral oil additives which feature activity in automatic transmission fluid as copper alloy corrosion inhibitors.
Abstract:
Alkyl-guanidino heterocyclic compound produced by alkylation with a halogenated hydrocarbon of the general formula RX.sub.n, of a guanidino-heterocyclic compound (A) of general formula: ##STR1## in which R is substantially a hydrocarbon radical containing about 10 to 200 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom and n is 1 or 2; Y is an oxygen atom, --O--, a sulfur atom --S--, a --NH-- group, or a --CONH-- group in which the carbon atom is directly bound to the benzene ring, R' and R" are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or a --Z--Ar group in which Z is a divalent atom or group and Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic radical, R' and R" being capable of forming together, when they are in ortho position, an aliphatic or aromatic cycle fused to the benzene ring.
Abstract:
Oxazoline reaction products of hydrocarbon substituted dicarboxylic acid, ester, or anhydride, for example octadecenylsuccinic anhydride, with 2,2-disubstituted-2-amino-1-alkanols, such as tris-hydroxymethylaminomethane (THAM), and their derivatives are useful additives in oleaginous compositions, such as sludge dispersants for lubricating oil, or anti-rust agents for gasoline.
