Abstract: There is provided: a method for controlling corrosion-resistant paper with easy decomposability, whereby the paper has corrosion resistance against decomposition due to microorganisms in soil when raising seedlings, the paper retains satisfactory strength during agricultural planting, and desired decomposability is given to the paper after planting or after harvest of crops; and a method for producing corrosion-resistant paper with controlled decomposability. The controlling method is subjected to corrosion-resistant paper containing paper with cellulose fibers and a carboxylic acid crosslinking agent at least partially bonded to each other, the controlling method including a step for treating the corrosion-resistant paper with alkali; and the producing method comprises a step for applying a processing solution containing a carboxylic acid crosslinking agent to paper containing cellulose fibers, a step for subjecting the paper to a heating treatment, and a step for treating the paper undergone the heating treatment with an alkali.

Abstract: A method for making a dyed mulch composition or a dyed growing medium, the method comprising combining tree bark including one or more pigments and/or pigment precursors and wood components together to form an initial composition; heating the initial composition at a temperature greater than about 149° C. under steam in a pressurized vessel; processing the initial composition through a refiner with a plurality of opposing disks, the refiner separating the tree bark and wood components into fibers and separating the fibers from each other; and dyeing the wood components by the one or more pigments and/or pigment precursors while the tree bark and the wood components are being separated into fibers in the refiner to obtain dyed fibers.

Abstract: A plant nutrition composition including long organic fibers having nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium available for plants, in combination with organic substratum providing pH balancing in the range of about 6.0 to about 7.0. The long fibers may be the end product of slow, heat-agitated anaerobic digestion of manure. Combined with the fibers are substratum such as pine bark composted for a duration in the range of between about 9 months and about 12 months.

Abstract: In a method of treating a particulate landscaping material, the material is fed into a mixing chamber and an additive mixture including a functional additive and a carrier is delivered to spray nozzles within the mixing chamber. At least one of the spray nozzles is operated to direct an atomized spray into the mixing chamber. The material is agitated within the mixing chamber during and/or after directing the atomized spray into the mixing chamber. The material is then conveyed with the additive mixture applied thereto to a mixing chamber outlet. During these steps, a volumetric flow rate of the particulate landscape material through the mixing chamber is intermittently determined. The determined volumetric flow rate is intermittently compared to a predetermined target flow rate of the particulate landscape material. Based on this comparison, the volumetric flow rate of the particulate landscape material through the mixing chamber is adjusted.
