The present invention relates to powder coating compositions and to components and ingredients for incorporation therein, suitable for fast curing schedule and with excellent resistance to outside aging. Non-isocyanurate polyepoxide cross-linking reagents can be used, provided the nature of the carboxylated polyester resin is formed of at least 30 mole % aromatic acid and the chain of the carboxyl terminated polyester also incorporates a moiety derived from 1,4 cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid. The powder coating composition can be cured for 90 seconds at a temperature of 250° C. or 55 seconds at 270° C. or 20 seconds in an induction oven at a temperature of 300° C. in the presence of a catalyst.

The present invention relates to a process for coating substrates, which comprises the steps: a) provision of a substrate, b) application of a composition to at least one surface of the substrate, the composition comprising a silane of the general formula (Z1)Si(OR3), where Z1 is OR or Gly (Gly=3-glycidyloxypropyl) and R is an alkyl radical having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and all radicals R can be identical or different, an inert solvent and an initiator and the inert solvent having a boiling point under the drying conditions of step c) which is in a range from 50° C. above to 50° C. below the drying temperature of step c) and the boiling point of the inert solvent under the drying conditions of step c) being at least 80° C., and c) drying of the composition applied in step b) at a drying temperature of from 100° C. to 250° C., and also to a coated substrate obtainable by means of the abovementioned process.

Aqueous coating compositions containing (1) a first polymer containing reactive functional groups with a selected level of carboxylic acid functionality and (2) a polyfunctional crosslinker agent containing functional groups that are reactive with appropriate functional groups of the first polymer, are disclosed. The two-component polymer compositions provide a combination of durability and ready removability of the final coating after curing. Two-component polymer compositions based on the first polymer containing hydroxyl functionality in addition to carboxylic acid functionality and use of a polyisocyanate as the polyfunctional crosslinker agent are especially useful as floor polish compositions.

The method requires the application to a substrate of at least 2.0 mils/50.8 microns of a uncured curable coating composition comprising an anti-popping component (a), a film-forming component (b), and a crosslinking component (c), wherein anti-popping component (a) has from 12 to 72 carbon atoms, is substantially free of any heteroatoms, is not a crystalline solid at room temperature and comprises a mixture of two or more structures selected from the group consisting of aliphatic structures for anti-popping component (a), aromatic-containing structures for anti-popping component (a), cycloaliphatic-containing structures for anti-popping component (a), and mixtures thereof, at least one of the two or more structures being a cycloaliphatic-containing structure or an aromatic-containing structure. The coated uncured substrate is cured to provide a cured film free of popping defects with an average film build of at least 2.0 mils/50.8 microns.

Further provided are a process for producing the adhesive sheet, a process for producing the coverlay film, and a process for producing the flexible copper-clad laminate. The halogen-free adhesive composition yields a cured product, on curing, that exhibits excellent flame retardancy and electrical characteristics (anti-migration properties). The composition can be used for producing an adhesive sheet, a coverlay film, and a flexible copper-clad laminate.
