    摘要: Trimethylbenzene is selectively prepared by contacting a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkane with magnesium under reaction conditions to produce a reaction product. The reaction product thus produced, is contacted with water or a lower alcohol to promote a protonolysis reaction. The reaction mixture or a fraction thereof from the protonolysis reaction is contacted with a metal containing Y zeolite catalyst under reaction conditions to produce trimethylbenzene.

    摘要: A process for the disproportionation and transalkylation of toluene and the heavy aromatics comprises subjecting a first stream of toluene, and a stream enriched in aromatics of nine carbon atoms to toluene disproportionation and transalkylation reactions in the presence of hydrogen in a first reaction zone to produce a first product mixture comprising benzene, aromatics of eight carbon atoms and heavy aromatics of ten and more carbon atoms; subjecting a second stream of toluene, and a stream enriched in heavy aromatics of ten and more carbon atoms to transalkylation reaction in the presence of hydrogen in a second reaction zone to produce a second product mixture comprising benzene, aromatics of eight carbon atoms and aromatics of nine carbon atoms; and isolating and recovering benzene and aromatics of eight carbon atoms from the first and second product mixtures.

    摘要: Process for alkylating or alkylating-transalkylating a charge containing toluene, methanol and, optionally, polymethylbenzenes, in one or two steps, conducted at a temperature from 100.degree. to 600.degree. C under a pressure from 1 to 150 bars in the presence of hydrogen and of a catalyst having a zeolite base of the faujasite type selected from Y sieves containing less than 2% by weight of sodium and at least 0.5% by weight of nickel, silver, cadmium or a mixture thereof and in which the molar ratio SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 is from 2 to 6, and also in the presence of sulfur either introduced into the charge or preintroduced into the catalyst or both.

    摘要: A process for alkylating an isoparaffin with an olefin using a solid, particulate catalyst capable of adsorbing the olefin. The isoparaffin and the olefin are admixed to form a reactants stream in contact with catalyst particles at the upstream end of an adsorption zone; the reactants stream and catalyst particles are passed cocurrently through the adsorption zone without back mixing, at controlled relative velocities, so that a controlled amount of olefin is adsorbed onto the catalyst and removed from the reactants stream as the catalyst and hydrocarbons are passed cocurrently through the adsorption zone; reactants stream and catalyst particles having olefin adsorbed thereon are withdrawn from the downstream end of the adsorption zone and contacted in an alkylation reaction zone to alkylate the isoparaffin with previously adsorbed olefin; and the alkylation reaction product is recovered from the hydrocarbon effluent from the alkylation zone.
