Methods for making and using the glazing composition are disclosed, as well as substrates having a fired antimicrobial glaze thereon. The antimicrobial agents comprise metallic oxides, with a subset of the disclosed combinations exhibiting synergistic effect in fired glazes.

摘要: Methods, compositions and kits for masking and subsequent removal of oil, grease, rust and other stains from a variety of rough solid surfaces, including, but not limited to stone, concrete, asphalt, stucco brick, and ceramic. The methods include coating the stains with an opaque or translucent thin film of a composition that makes the stain practically indistinguishable against the background, exposing the coated stain to the elements, such as, sunlight, air, moisture, resulting in spontaneous transformation, degradation and subsequent removal of the stains from the solid surfaces. The compositions include a photocatalyst by itself or the photocatalyst combined with at least one of, a sensitizer, a dopant, a mediator, a co-reagent, a pigment and a binder. The role of a photocatalyst is to produce highly reactive species or radicals and initiate the degradation of a stain upon exposure to elements, such as, sunlight, air and ambient humidity. Artificial light sources can be used instead of sunlight.

摘要: Multilayered metal oxide coated substrates are disclosed comprising a three dimensional inorganic substrate having a coating of metal oxide on at least a portion of all three dimensions thereof, produced by a unique process having particular applicability to the manufacture of tin oxide coated three dimensional substrates. Certain novel coated substrates, such as flakes, spheres and porous substrates are disclosed. The coated substrates are useful in polymers, catalysis, heating and shielding applications.

摘要: A composition for application to a substrate to form a an electrically conductive coating thereon. The composition includes a sol-gel solution filled with a conductive powder. The coating may be conductive or resistive depending on the application. A process is provided for applying such a coating by mixing a sol-gel solution with up to about 90% by weight of the solution of a conductive powder selected from the group consisting of ceramics, inter-ceramics, semi-conductors and metals so as to provide a uniform stable dispersion. The stable dispersion is applied to a substrate and the coated substrate is fired at a temperature sufficient to remove organic constituents and to produce at least a partially conductive film on the substrate. A heating device is also provided which is a product of the above process.

摘要: A method for forming an oxide coated substrate comprising heating a pre-coating mixture in the presence of a substrate to synthesize an oxide coating on the substrate. The pre-coating mixture comprises a solubilized reducing additive, a solubilized oxidizing additive, and the substrate. The heating is conducted at a temperature sufficiently high enough to exothermically react the solubilized reducing additive and solubilized oxidizing additive and low enough to control the phase and composition of the oxide.

摘要: Silica-based refractories are impregnated with protective material that is more resistant towards attack by corrosive species. The protective material coats the surface of the refractory matrix and fills some of the cavity volume of its pores, crevices, surfaces imperfections and irregularities. The protective material is positioned by impregnating the refractory with a precursor which, under the input of energy, is converted into the corrosion resistant protective material.
