Ammonia for use in the manufacture of a GaN-type compound semiconductor, filled in a charging container 18 such that at least a part of the ammonia is liquid and the liquid phase ammonia has a water concentration determined by a Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) of 0.5 vol ppm or less, is introduced in the gaseous state into a reaction chamber 11 housing therein a substrate 1, and a layer comprising a GaN-type compound started from this ammonia is formed on the substrate 1.

The addition of a nucleating or coalescing agent (e.g., urea) to liquid ammonia reduces the size and persistence of a deadly, fog-like cloud of ammonia droplets that tend to form when liquid ammonia is accidentally released to the atmosphere. In addition, high purity ammonia is obtained by evaporating ammonia from the ammonia- and nucleating agent-containing composition.
摘要:
Accidental spills of liquid ammonia can result in the formation of deadly, fog-like ovoids of ammonia droplets that persist for an appreciably time before dissipating. The addition of a coalescing additive such as urea to liquid ammonia reduces the size and persistence of the cloud that can form if the treated ammonia is accidentally released to the atmosphere. The potential for death and injury resulting from an accidental release of ammonia is thus substantially reduced.

Systems and methods for determining amount of solid ammonia stored in a canister used in providing ammonia fluid in exhaust gas after-treatment systems. A microcontroller sets an ammonia level based on the data read from an RFID tag associated with the canister. The data may provide the amount of solid ammonia stored in the canister or a tag number that the microcontroller may use to retrieve the quantity of stored solid ammonia. A measured amount of ammonia fluid used during the treatment process may be used by the microcontroller in determining the amount of solid ammonia depleted from the canister. At predetermined precisions, the amount of depleted ammonia is subtracted from the set ammonia level to determine the remaining amount of solid ammonia in the canister. This determined amount of may be used to reset the ammonia level and be written onto the RFID tag.

An ammonia expander in a liquefaction process, the ammonia expander reducing the resulting vapor from the liquid ammonia expansion and increasing the percentage of both the feed gas input and the process output. Embodiments of the ammonia expander comprise a radial inflow reaction turbine with an induction generator mounted on a generator shaft and a turbine mounted on a turbine shaft, the turbine submerged in the liquid ammonia. The turbine extracts torque from the liquid ammonia as it flows through the turbine. The torque from the turbine is transferred from the turbine shaft to the generator shaft, allowing for energy to be extracted from the liquid ammonia stream.

Ammonia can be stored and recovered by a process which includes the steps of: (a) absorbing ammonia into an alcohol to form an alcohol/ammonia solution; (b) holding the alcohol/ammonia solution in a reservoir for subsequent recovery of ammonia therefrom: and (c) heating and/or reducing the pressure of the alcohol/ammonia solution to liberate ammonia therefrom.

Provided are a novel system and method for delivery of a vapor phase product to a point of use, as well as a novel on-site chemical distribution system and method. The system for delivery of a vapor phase product includes a storage vessel containing a liquid chemical under its own vapor pressure, a column connected to receive the chemical in liquified state from the storage vessel, wherein the chemical is fractionated into a contaminated liquid heavy fraction and a purified light vapor fraction and a conduit connected to the column for removing the purified light vapor fraction therefrom. The system is connected to the point of use for introducing the purified vapor fraction thereto. Particular applicability is found in semiconductor manufacturing in the delivery of electronic specialty gases to one or more semiconductor processing tools.
