A contact nozzle for coating an elastic strand with an adhesive. Air is discharged at the adhesive in contact with the strand, causing the adhesive to spread around the periphery of the strand. The air assists with release of the adhesive from the nozzle and also cleans the nozzle to discourage adhesive build-up on the nozzle.

A fluid application device, a nozzle assembly and a method of applying a fluid onto a strand of material provided. The fluid application device includes an applicator head and a nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly includes a guide slot for receiving a strand of material. The nozzle assembly further includes an orifice, spaced from the guide slot, configured to discharge a first fluid to onto the strand, and at least one outlet, adjacent to the orifice, for discharging a second fluid to act on the first fluid. The method includes positioning the strand at the closed end of the guide slot so that the strand is spaced a predetermined distance from the orifice, feeding the strand through the guide slot at a predetermined speed, applying the first fluid onto the strand from the orifice and discharging the second fluid from the at least one outlet.

A ribbon self-orienting device that is to be interposed between the source and the target of a traveling ribbon, either during winding of a ribbon into a traversed roll or during pay-off of a ribbon from a traversed roll. A pivoting frame is pivotally coupled to a frame support, at a pivot axis. First and second direction changing means coupled to the pivoting frame serve to change the direction of the traveling ribbon. A force transfer means transfers a transversely directed force, imparted by the traveling ribbon due to the ribbon traversing its traversed roll while under tension, to the pivoting frame causing the pivoting frame to move about the pivot axis. During the process of making elastomeric laminates, elastic material is advanced and stretched in a machine direction and may be joined with one or more substrates advancing in the machine direction. During the assembly process, one-way snare apparatuses and methods may be configured to automatically isolate elastic materials that may break. The one-way snares may include a housing and a snare member movably connected with the housing, wherein the snare member is movable relative to the housing between a first position and a second position. The one-way snares are adapted to permit advancement of continuous elastic strands in a first direction through the housing when the snare members are in the first position, and to prevent an end portion a broken elastic strand from retracting in a second direction through the housing when the snare member is in the second position, wherein the second direction is opposite the first direction.

A quick spinner thread alignment apparatus consists of a two part adjustable mounting block comprised of an upper block and a lower block. An angle adjustment device is connected to the upper block and the lower block where the angle adjustment device adjustably secures the upper block at selected angles relative to the lower block. A thread support disk is rotatably connected with the mounting block. A thread saver is connected with the mounting block. A thread pole is connected with the thread support disk and a brake is connected with the thread support disk and the mounting block.

A cable transport device having a pivotably mounted cable transporter, a first drive means connected in a stationary manner to a base frame and intended for achieving an exactly defined pivot movement of the cable transporter around a pivot axis and a second drive means for synchronous driving of at least two cooperating pressure rollers. The second drive means with a drive axle for the pressure rollers is connected in a stationary manner to the base frame, and the drive axle of the second drive means coincides with the pivot axis for the cable transporter. In additional versions, the second drive means with a drive axle for the pressure rollers is also connected in a stationary manner to the base frame, and the rollers' axes of rotation are parallel to one another and parallel to a common pitch axis. In these versions, transmission of the drive movement to the toothed belt driving the pressure rollers is effected via a toothed belt which is tensioned symmetrically to the center of rotation of the pivot axis between a first intermediate shaft arranged on a base plate of the cable transporter and a second intermediate shaft fixed to the machine frame, the pitch axis of the cable transporter being identical to the axis of the first intermediate shaft. The cable transport device may be equipped with a guide sleeve that includes a grooved plate and a cover plate that may be replaced for adaptation to different cable diameters and for correction of the cable position.

If the fiber bundle (F) wound around the first bobbin (B1) has been unwound and little remains, by rotating the turntable (323) and splicing the fiber bundle (F) of the first bobbin (B1) and the fiber bundle (F) of the second bobbin (B2), unwinding of the fiber bundle (F) wound around the second bobbin (B2) is started.

The present disclosure relates to methods for making elastomeric laminates that may be used as components of absorbent articles. During the process of making the elastomeric laminate, elastic material may be advanced and stretched in a machine direction and may be joined with one or more substrates advancing the machine direction. The methods and apparatuses according to the present disclosure may be configured to automatically isolate elastic materials that may break during the assembly process. The apparatuses may include a base member and one or more one-way snares projecting from the outer surface of the base member. The one-way snares are adapted to permit advancement of continuous elastic strands in a first direction, and are also adapted to prevent an end portion a broken elastic strand from retracting in a second direction, wherein the second direction is opposite the first direction.
