Techniques for processing a web with a laser are provided. In an example, an apparatus for processing web material can include multiple processing stages and a laser assembly. Each of the multiple processing stages can be configured to process a moving web of material along a web path. The laser assembly can be configured to process the moving web of material with a laser at a first stage of the multiple stages. The laser assembly can include a laser configured to generate a laser beam, a gimble assembly configured to direct the laser beam along a cut path at a position of a web path of the moving web of material, and a servo driven mirror assembly configured to provide an adjustable field of view for the laser stage at the position of the web path.
Abstract:
A skid assembly including a skid having a stacking surface and four gum rolls is provided. The gum rolls include a first gum roll positioned on the stacking surface and a second gum roll positioned on the stacking surface and abutting the first gum roll. The first and second gum rolls cooperate to define a first skid layer. The gum rolls further include third and fourth gum rolls each positioned on one of the first or second gum rolls. The fourth gum roll abuts the third gum roll, and the third and fourth gum rolls both cooperate to form a second skid layer. The gum rolls are formed of a strip stock wound onto a core fixture. The strip stock is coated to prevent the strip stock from adhering to itself while being wound into the gum roll.

An accompanying squeezing unit in a machine for winding plastic film onto bobbins, in which at least two spindles are positioned on a rotating plate around a central shaft constrained to an upright of the machine, the group including an accompanying squeezing roll situated on a lever mechanism which is selectively actuated to rotate-oscillate by actuators in order to maintain the squeezing roll positioned on a film in the final winding onto a bobbin positioned on one of the spindles, the lever mechanism being activated when the plate carrying the spindles is rotated to discharge a finished bobbin. The lever mechanism in the group includes two first levers and two second levers articulated relative to each other.

A holding and supporting group of a winding spindle in a machine for winding plastic film onto spools includes, a winding reel positioned between two uprights, wherein a first upright carries a rotating plate which cantilever-supports three spindles and a central shaft, wherein the central shaft is supported at the other end by the second upright, wherein, in correspondence with a free end of the central shaft, there is a star-shaped plate with three supporting arms for each free end of the three spindles through a respective toggle lever mechanism driven by an actuator carried on a lever articulated with respect to the star-shaped plate, and in turn caused to oscillate between an operative blocking position of the respective spindle and a rest position for releasing the respective spindle by an additional actuator.

A method for controlling the winding of an elongated element onto a collection reel with the interposition of a service fabric, includes rotating the collection reel and simultaneously winding the elongated element and the service fabric onto the collection reel, wherein the simultaneous winding includes determining the actual winding diameter of the collection reel and preferably, the actual unwinding diameter of a storage reel of the service fabric. The rotation speed of the collection reel is adjusted according to the actual winding diameter and preferably, also to the variation in length of the portion of elongated clement about to be deposited onto the collection reel.
Abstract:
A winder for winding a web to produce a rolled product is provided. The winder includes a web transport apparatus that is used for conveying the web. Also included in one exemplary embodiment is a plurality of independent winding modules. The winding modules are independently positioned to independently engage the web as the web is conveyed by the web transport apparatus. The winding modules may be configured to wind the web to form a rolled product by center winding, surface winding, and combinations of center and surface winding. The winding modules are structurally and operationally independent of one another where if one module is disabled, another may still operate to produce the rolled product without shutting down the winder.

Methods and apparatus for folding pliable sheet material wherein the sheet material is wound on a mandrel to form a roll which subsequently is stripped off the mandrel and transferred to a pleating station at which successive creases are formed in the roll to produce a pleated packet. During the winding of the sheet material the latter is adhered to the mandrel by the application of negative air pressure to the material via the mandrel. Following the formation of the roll, the application of negative air pressure is discontinued and positive air pressure is applied to the interior of the roll so as to facilitate stripping of the roll from the mandrel. At the pleating station the roll is creased successively to form a plurality of pleats and the direction in which the creasing proceeds is such as to facilitate the escape of air from the roll as it is pleated.

The apparatus includes a turret assembly having a first winding cylinder, a first vacuum source providing vacuum to the first winding cylinder, and a web breaking assembly moveable between a first web breaking assembly position and a second web breaking assembly position. The web breaking assembly includes a blade, which is moveable between a first blade position and a second blade position.

The pressure roller reel-up for reeling of a web (W) onto a roll (R) contains a roller (1) via which the continuous web (W) entering the reel-up is arranged to wind around a reeling axle (3) arranged rotatably in a reeling position. The reel-up also comprises a load device (4) for pressing the roller (1) against a roll (R) being formed of the web around the reeling axle (3) in order to form a reeling nip (N) between the roller (1) and the roll (R). The roller (1) is inside a belt loop (2) laid against the periphery of the roll (R) within a given path length (L) after the reeling nip (N) formed between the roller (1) and the roll (R).
