Abstract:
A conveyance mechanism by which a recording medium can be conveyed intermittently; a recording mechanism for recording by reciprocatingly scanning a recording head in a direction that intersects with a direction of conveyance of the recording medium by the conveyance mechanism; a turret to which a plurality of take-up spindles for taking up the recording medium are provided; rotational mechanisms of the take-up spindles; a rotational mechanism of the turret; and a control unit for controlling the rotational mechanisms of the take-up spindles and the rotational mechanism of the turret so as to cause the take-up spindles and/or the turret to be rotated intermittently so as to correspond to the intermittent conveyance by the conveyance mechanism.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a winding machine, on which, in alternation, a wound package is wound in a winding position of a spindle, while at the same time a completely wound package is removed from another spindle. With winding machines according to the prior art, the completely wound package must be removed quickly before the other wound package has reached a critical diameter to avoid a collision of their lateral faces. According to the invention, a shifting device shifts the completely wound package before or during the winding process of the wound package such that the axial extensions of the wound packages have no overlap. The collision of the wound packages can thus be prevented as the diameter of the wound package increases, whereby a more compact design with a smaller spacing of the spindles is made possible and an operator has more time to remove the completely wound spool.
Abstract:
A drum support arm supports a cutting drum with a sector cross section and a receiving drum with a circular cross section, and moves between a web winding changeover position for causing the receiving drum to contact a core and a spacing position for keeping the receiving drum away from the core. The guide roller moves between an approaching position for lifting a web from the receiving drum and a retracted position for causing the web contact a peripheral surface of the receiving drum. When the drum support arm moves to the web winding changeover position, the guide roller moves to the retracted position, and when the drum support arm moves to the spacing position, the guide roller moves to the approaching position. When the drum support arm is set to the web winding changeover position, the cutting drum rotates once to cut the web. A front end of the web formed by cutting is pressed against the core by the receiving drum and wound around the periphery of the core.
Abstract:
A method of forming sheet rolls made of a heat transfer recording sheet having a transfer ink layer on a surface of a base by winding the recording sheet around the outer peripheries of a plurality of cores. The method includes supplying a web heat transfer recording sheet, cutting a portion thereof corresponding to a region between two adjacent sheet rolls to form cut ends, placing a non-adhesive waste sheet and a pair of adhesive tapes attached to the waste sheet ends between the transfer recording sheet, the tapes having an adhesive portion, an outside-exposed portion, and a portion attached to a cut end of the recording sheet, winding the sheet around a core outer periphery, positioning the waste sheet between winding apparatus and a discharging portion, and cutting the waste sheet so positioned.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the winding of striplike material, in particular steel strip, in each case on one of two spreadable winding mandrels which are arranged, overhung, horizontally and parallel to one another and which, driven in rotation independently of one another, are mounted, in a carrying structure rotatable about a common horizontal central axis, on a vertical carrying wall in the form of a circular disk. The carrying wall in the form of a circular disk is arranged coaxially at the end of a central carrying shaft mounted, at its end opposite the carrying wall, in a rotary bearing. The gears for the winding mandrels are arranged, on the side of the carrying wall which faces away from the winding mandrels, in selfsupporting cases with cover division, which are connected to the carrying wall and with the latter form the carrying structure and which are themselves connected supportingly to at least one carrier which is fastened, overhung, to the carrying wall, so as to be parallel to the carrying shaft, and which, between the gear case and the rotary bearing, carries the drive motors for the winding mandrels, said drive motors being arranged on brackets.
Abstract:
A material winding and cutting machine is capable of automatically winding and cutting specified lengths of a material formed on a removable workpiece. Winding spindles (10 and 11) are rotatably mounted to drum (4) and revolve with the rotation of the drum between a winding station and a doffing station. Tubes (20) and fixed to the spindles (10 and 11) to receive the material (13). The machine includes a brake (27) which stops rotation of the material (13) about a winding spindle (10) during the cutting operation. The brake assembly stops the winding spindle to provide for an accurate cutting of the material to a predetermined length. Since the material does not rotate about the winding spindle during the cutting operation, the winding spindle incorporates a force storage device (28) to provide the needed tension to the material for proper cutting.
Abstract:
An improved turret type winder incorporates articulated constant contact lay-on rolls mounted concentrically with chucks at the ends of the arms of the turret winder. The articulated constant contact lay-on rolls are continuously repositioned radially during winding and are able to either maintain constant pressure or to reduce lay-on roll pressure as the film bundle diameter increases. Web tension variations during transfer operations are minimized by maintaining an essentially constant wrap angle on the lay-on roll between the web and the lay-on roll. An improved web feed-in mechanism is incorporated to reduce web tension variations due to drag forces. An improved method for winding film bundles is also provided whereby the nip pressure is varied during winding and then maintained at an about constant value during turret rotation.
Abstract:
In a method and an apparatus for continuous winding-up of a material web on roll spindles where the web is supplied continuously and is arranged to be cut off in conjunction with roll spindle shiftings, a cutting off knife (17) is mounted in a holder (10) together with a brush (16) and a pressure roller for transferring the web onto a new roll spindle. The invention also includes a microcomputer-regulated control system and a gear drive housing (44) which is designed to be rotated together with the roll holder (5) during spindle shiftings.
Abstract:
A web cutting blade is secured to an articulated arm which moves the blade towards and away from the web to be severed. The blade is moved to a position adjacent a free span of the web and is held in a stationary position during the severing of the web. A web guide shoe is also mounted on the articulated arm and captures the severed end of the web and directs it around a new core so that it will envelop the core and begin winding on the core so that the roll change can be effected during a continuous web movement. A web defelector member positioned on an opposite side of the web from the cutting blade is also mounted on an articulated arm which can move the deflector towards and away from the web. After the blade has been positioned adjacent the web, the deflector member urges the web into engagement with the blade so that the web will be cut due to the movement of the web across the blade. An enveloper roll is also supported on the side of the web opposite the knife by a further articulated arm which moves the enveloper roll into engagement with the web and urges the web to envelop a portion of the periphery of the new core, after which the deflector member forces the web into engagement with the blade to cause its severance.
Abstract:
A web winding and cutting apparatus for mounting downstream of the final stage of a web handling machine such as a printing machine includes pressure rollers mounted upon pivoted arms and engageable with the final roller of the machine to draw the web from the final stage, so that a relatively low-torque motor can be employed to drive a core upon which a roll is round. A movable cutter blade may be associated with pivoted arms carrying joining rollers used for pressing the severed leading end portion of the web onto the core to be wound.
