摘要: The present invention relates to an ice detection/protection and flow control system based on printing of dielectric barrier discharge sliding plasma actuators. This invention has advantages such as: reduced weight, low maintenance cost, no environmental impact, fully electric operation and combination of functionalities (ice detection, deicing, anti-icing and flow control).The system comprises the following components: exposed AC electrode (1), dielectric layer (2), embedded electrode (3), sliding/nanosecond electrode (4), ground plane (5), AC power supply (6), DC power supply (7), nanosecond range pulse generator (8), monitoring capacitor (9), high voltage probe (10), control module (11), temperature sensor (12), control signal input module (13) and monitoring system (14). The system senses ice formation and generates extensive surface heating to prevent ice accumulation.

摘要: A method of controlling electrical power supplied to a component of a vehicle, the method comprising: receiving a signal comprising information associated with an operating condition of a gas turbine engine; determining whether a parameter exceeds a predetermined threshold value using the information in the received signal; and controlling a reduction in electrical power supplied to a component of a vehicle from a generator of the gas turbine engine if the parameter exceeds the predetermined threshold value.

摘要: A system for monitoring performance of an aircraft windshield includes a sensor comprising a sensory contact and an evaluation unit. The sensory contact is in physical contact with one or more components of the windshield, and generates a signal representative of the performance of the component(s) of the windshield. An electrical connector is secured to the surface of the windshield facing the interior of the aircraft. The signal from the sensory contact passes through the connector to the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit acts on the signal to determine the performance of the component(s) of the windshield, wherein the evaluation unit is spaced from and out of physical contact with the windshield and the electrical connector, and is in electrical contact with the electrical connector.

摘要: A method for reducing the resistivity of a thermoplastic film containing carbon nanotubes includes connecting an electric power supply to the thermoplastic film containing carbon nanotubes and passing electric current through the thermoplastic film containing carbon nanotubes to heat the thermoplastic film to an elevated temperature and align carbon nanotubes within the thermoplastic film. The thermoplastic film is solid at room temperature.

摘要: An ice protection system for an aircraft may comprise an electric heater embedded within a composite aircraft component. In the event of malfunction of the embedded heater, a secondary heater may be attached to an interior surface of the composite aircraft component. The wiring may be detached from the embedded heater and attached to the secondary heater. The secondary heater may be used to provide ice protection to the composite aircraft component.
