    摘要: A fluid power apparatus is connected to a pressurized fluid supply and a conventional helm pump controlled by the helm of a vessel to shift the rudder. The apparatus comprises an actuator cylinder connectable to the rudder, and a servo cylinder and a main valve connected to the helm pump to pass fluid therebetween and between the actuator cylinder. The actuator cylinder and servo cylinder have respective bodies and piston rods, and portions of the servo cylinder and actuator cylinder are connected together for concurrent simultaneous movement along respective longitudinal axes. Valve shifting structure is responsive to a change in fluid signal from the helm pump applied to the servo apparatus. Fluid diverting structure is responsive to a threshold supply pressure so as to actuate the valve to stop flow of supply fluid when supply pressure drops below the threshold pressure. When pressurized fluid is available, the valve is actuated in response to a fluid signal from the helm pump and the actuator cylinder receives pressurized fluid from the valve and directs fluid back to the valve. When pressurized fluid is not available, the valve is actuated in response to a fluid signal from the helm pump and the valve is effectively by-passed and the actuator cylinder receives fluid from the helm pump and is actuated by manually applied pressures.

    摘要: A power steering system of an outboard motor to be mounted upon the body of a hull and including a steering bracket secured to the body of the hull, a swivel bracket rotatable about a body of the outboard motor and a pair of clamping brackets supporting the swivel bracket, comprises a manual steering unit for manually steering a steering element so as to operate the outboard motor, the manual steering unit including a link mechanism connected to the steering element and connected to the steering bracket, and a power unit operatively connected to the link mechanism of the manual steering unit. The power unit includes an electric motor for applying a steering assist force to the manual steering unit for reducing the steering load during steering operations through means of the link mechanism and also includes a mechanism for converting rotation of the electric motor into linear motion. The power steering system further comprises a clutch means operatively connected to the manual steering unit and the power unit and a control unit for controlling the connection of the power unit so as to be operatively disconnected from the manual steering unit. The power unit may be located upon an outside portion of the hull within a bracket or in front of the clamping bracket of the outboard motor.

    摘要: The remote-control device features a servomechanism that transmits the movements of a first control cable or tie rod, which is connected to handgrip or control pedal, to a second cable or tie rod which is connected to an application. The servomechanism features two neutral levers with bodies having a cylindrical sector. The levers are connected, respectively, to the cables or tie rods. This servomechanism features a shaft of a geared motor which is arranged coaxially between two bodies of the levers, features a spiral spring arranged between the two bodies and the shaft, and is tightly wound on the shaft. The spring has opposing ends which face outward and extend between the bodies. The servomechanism further features a transducer which detects the movements of first control cable and actuates an electronic unit which controls the geared motor in such a way that the remote control can be effected electromechanically or, in the event that the electrical components malfunction, mechanically.

    摘要: A manual steering wheel or the like is connected through a rotatable flexible cable and a double-acting free wheeling clutch to a rotatable element controlling the position of a steering member such as a boat's rudder. A servo motor is also connected through the clutch to the rotatable element, and starting, stopping, and the direction of operation of the motor are controlled by electric pole changing spring contacts associated with the wheel. The connection of the steering wheel to the rotatable element is directly through the free wheel element of the clutch, while the servo motor is connected to the rotatable element through the other rotary element of the clutch. This permits the servo motor normally to drive the rudder in response to steering wheel motion, but direct manual steering is enabled should the servo motor operate too slowly or not at all.

    摘要: A control unit with means to provide a positive connection between a rudder and a power driving motor for automatic pilot steering. The control unit is normally attached to a steering means, such as a quandrant, which is keyed to a rudder post. The control unit has rotatable means responsive to a shaft extending from the power motor, including a sprocket which engages a detent carried by a pivotal braking arm. The arm is movable between either a release or set position. A solenoid having a plunger element is provided which extends through the distal end of the arm to effect movement of the braking arm into set position. Resilient means, such as springs, surround the plunger on either side of the brake arm and bias it either into set position when the solenoid is activated or release position when inactivated. Provision is also made for manual override of the automatic control. When the unit is in set position, the reciprocating movement of the shaft from the power motor will cause a corresponding movement of the quadrant and, ultimately, the rudder. In release position, the movement of the shaft will not affect the quadrant.
