Abstract:
A tire structure, including a rim, an outer tire, an inner tube, and an inflating valve; an outer peripheral surface of the rim is provided with a mounting groove; tire beads of the outer tire are hermetically connected with side walls of the mounting groove, so that a hermetically sealed air cavity is formed between the rim and the outer tire; the inner tube is annular and made of an elastic porous material, with a sectional size larger than that of the air cavity; the inner tube is disposed in the air cavity so that an outer surface of the inner tube is tightly attached to an inner wall of the air cavity; the inflating valve is mounted to the rim to inflate the air cavity and the inner tube. Impact force can be absorbed to protect the rim even when the tire is not completely inflated.
Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire including: a sealant layer located radially inside an innerliner; and a sound-absorbing layer located radially inside the sealant layer, the sealant layer being formed of a generally string-shaped sealant provided continuously and spirally along the inner periphery of the tire, the sound-absorbing layer being attached with the sealant.
Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire in which a sealant layer entirely exhibits sufficient sealing performance. The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire including a sealant layer located radially inside an innerliner, the sealant layer being formed by continuously and spirally applying a generally string-shaped sealant to the inner periphery of a tire in the tire width direction from one side to the other, the attachment start portion of the sealant being located tire-widthwise inward from the tire-widthwise end of the sealant layer.
Abstract:
Adapter providing the connection between one tire bead and the rim. An axially inner end of the adapter is mounted on the rim seat, an axially outer end is mounted on the rim seat, a body connects said outer end to said inner end, a substantially cylindrical adapter seat receives one of said beads, and an adapter bearing face is substantially contained in a plane perpendicular to the axis. The reinforcer element of the axially outer end is entirely situated axially outside the bearing face. The body comprises, opposite the adapter seat, an annular seat protuberance, said protuberance comprising at least one rubber composition.
Abstract:
A sealing tube is wrapped around the rim and inflated such as to seal the gap between tire and rim if the seal between the tire bead and rim has lost its integrity. After this, the tire can be inflated to specified pressure at a slow rate using a portable compressor. The repair can be done at roadside on any vehicle using inflatable tires usually without demounting the wheel or even jacking up the defective wheel.
Abstract:
The present invention is a system which improves the installation and provides a seal between tubeless tires and the rims of the wheels upon which they are mounted. A pliant sealing member or ring (10) is placed over the base (21) or rim of the wheel The ring has an opening to match the valve opening (27) of the rim. A special valve stem sleeve (15) may be provided to enhance the sealing of the valve stem. The invention features a stretch zone (19) which allows universal fit for a range of wheel sizes and also accommodates the drop center (24) of wheels. A method of casting the ring (10) is disclosed which includes the design of a mold (40) and the production of twin rings which are cut when completed to form two separate rings (10). The sealing ring (10) may be made of vinyl having a durometer rating of between 50-75 and a thickness of 0.5-1.0 mm.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a spoked wheel rim for a wheeled vehicle, a mounted assembly incorporating this rim for such a vehicle and a method for assembling this mounted assembly. The invention applies in particular to the mounted assemblies for bicycles. This rim (1) has two rim edges (5 and 6) and a rim bottom (2) covered by an annular ribbon (10) that is flexible and sealed against the inflation gas that is intended to receive a tire and that is fitted with an inflation valve for inflating this tire, this ribbon having a central portion (12) conforming to the shape of this rim bottom and two lateral portions (15 and 16) protruding axially from these rim edges.According to the invention, these lateral portions are capable of having a portion of their axial width cut off by the detachment of two respective peripheral sections (15a and 16a) of these lateral portions, so that this ribbon extends from one of the said edges to the other following this detachment.
Abstract:
An elastomeric tire sealing ring for installation against a rim of a wheel to provide a sealing surface with a tire bead of a tire when a tire is installed on the wheel over the sealing ring, the sealing ring comprising a thermoplastic composition wherein the thermoplastic composition has a durometer reading of between 36 and 50 on the Shore D scale as per ISO 868; and a tensile strength of 7.0 MPa to 8.9 MPa at 10% elongation as determined with ISO 527 method.
Abstract:
A tube-type tire to be mounted on the rim of a (e.g., spoke-type) wheel such as that commonly used by a bicycle or a motorcycle, whereby the tube-type tire will operate without a conventional inner tube and as if it were tubeless. The tire includes a main tire section that is seated upon the generally flat shelf of the rim and a pneumatic sealing ring having an inner tube that is seated upon the beadwell of the rim. An air chamber of the inner tube of the sealing ring is inflated to a greater pressure than an air chamber of the main tire section so as to isolate the air chamber of the main tire section from the rim and force the main tire section against the vertical lip of the rim. The sealing ring also has an outer inflatable liner that is located in surrounding engagement with the inner tube to separate the inner tube from the air chamber of the main tire section. The outer liner has one or more O-ring seals projecting outwardly from the side walls thereof and a centering lip projecting downwardly from the side walls. The O-ring seals are moved into sealing engagement with the inside of the main tire section when the air chamber of the inner tube is inflated and the liner is expanded. The centering lips of the liner are seated upon the beadwell of the rim to cause the liner to be automatically centered over the inner tube.
Abstract:
An assembly comprising a tire (P) without an inner tube, provided with two beads and intended to be mounted on a mounting rim (J) comprising seats (440) extended radially towards the outside by flanges (R), and a rubber sealing piece (E) arranged between said rim and said tire, characterized in that the diameters (DP) of the tire bead seats are greater than the corresponding diameters (DJ) of the rim seats (440), said tire (P) being provided integrally with the sealing piece (E) formed of three parts which are integral with each other, a central part (51), made of material impermeable to the inflation gases, being placed axially between the beads of the tire, this central part (51) being extended axially beneath the beads of the tire by edges (50) integral with said beads, means being provided for facilitating the separation of the central part from the lateral parts.A process for manufacturing such an assembly.
