Abstract: A liquid ejecting apparatus includes an ejection head, a carriage, a conveyor and a controller configured to, when it is determined that the state of the ejection is in a first state, execute a first printing process and, when it is determined that the state of the ejection is in a second state, execute a second printing process. In the first printing process, (i) a previous pass-printing is performed, (ii) the printed medium is conveyed by a first distance after the previous pass-printing, and (iii) a succeeding pass-printing is performed after the conveyance of the printed medium. In the second printing process, (i) the previous pass-printing is performed, (ii) the printed medium is conveyed by a second distance larger than the first distance after the previous pass-printing, and (iii) the succeeding pass-printing is performed after the conveyance of the printed medium, in the interlaced-printing.

Abstract: An abnormal ejection detection portion detects an abnormal ejection nozzle in a print head based on a read test image read from a sheet with a test pattern formed thereon. Abstract: A recording device includes a recording unit, a transport belt configured to support the medium, and a moving mechanism configured to move at least one of the recording unit or the transport belt with respect to the other in a movement direction. The recording device includes a cleaning unit provided in a manner movable forward and backward with respect to a position between the recording unit and the transport belt in a first direction intersecting the movement direction. The cleaning unit is configured to, when the recording unit is located at a to-be-cleaned position, start moving from a non-cleaning region and move in a cleaning region in the first direction, thereby cleaning the ejecting unit. A restriction portion configured to restrict movement of the cleaning unit is located in the non-cleaning region to the cleaning region when the cleaning unit does not perform cleaning.

Abstract: A method for determining print defects in a printing operation carried out on an inkjet printing machine for processing a print job includes using a camera system to record and digitize printed products generated during the printing operation, feeding the camera image having been thus generated to a detection algorithm on the computer, alerting a machine control unit when print defects are found, and ejecting the printed product through a waste ejector if necessary. The detection algorithm separates color separations of the camera images, detects the print defects in the color separations, links images of the individual color separations to form a candidate image, filters the candidate image, enters the remaining detected print defects into a list, and forwards the list to the machine control unit of the printing machine.

Abstract: A test image printer of an inkjet printer causes a test image, including a mark with a predefined shape and usable to correct an image captured by an image capturing device, and a test pattern usable to inspect a plurality of nozzles, to be printed on a recording medium. An image capture controller controls the image capturing device to capture an image of the test image printed on the recording medium. A corrector compares the image of the mark captured by the image capturing device, to the predefined shape of the mark, to calculate a correction value, and corrects the image of the test pattern, captured by the image capturing device, based on the calculated correction value. An inspector inspects the plurality of nozzles based on the image of the test pattern corrected by the corrector.
