摘要： A roofing shingle includes an asphalt-coated sheet and a reinforcement member. The asphalt-coated sheet includes a shingle mat and an asphalt coating applied to the shingle mat. The asphalt-coated sheet has a lower tab portion normally exposed on a roof and an upper headlap portion normally covered-up on a roof. At least a portion of the asphalt-coated sheet is coated with granules. The reinforcement member is adhered to the asphalt-coated sheet along an upper edge of the headlap portion, with the reinforcement member and the headlap portion together providing a nail pull-through value that is greater than an otherwise identical shingle having no such reinforcement material.

摘要： An underlayment material has a fiber mat partially infused and/or coated with asphalt and coated with silicone coating. A selvedge edge, may be coated or uncoated. The back of the underlayment has a self-adhesive coating, which is protected before use by a siliconized release film. The upper surface of the underlayment is coated with silicone composition providing waterproofing and radiation control. When unsaturated, the selvedge edge of fibrous material establishes a reinforced bond with an overlying sheet. When saturated with asphalt, the bond at the selvedge edge between adjacent sheets is between the asphalt layer of the selvedge edge and the adhesive on the bottom of the adjacent sheet.

摘要： A method of making a laminated shingle is provided. The method includes coating a shingle mat with roofing asphalt to make an asphalt-coated sheet, adhering a reinforcement member to a portion of the asphalt-coated sheet, covering the asphalt-coated sheet, and optionally covering the reinforcement member, with granules to make a granule-covered sheet, dividing the granule-covered sheet into an overlay sheet and an underlay sheet, wherein the overlay sheet has a tab portion normally exposed on a roof and a headlap portion normally covered-up on a roof, the headlap portion having a lower zone adjacent the tab portion and an upper zone adjacent the lower zone, and wherein the reinforcement member is adhered to the lower zone of the headlap portion and laminating the overlay sheet and the underlay sheet to make the laminated shingle.

The roofing shingles includes an overlay sheet including a headlap portion and a tab portion and an underlay sheet secured to the overlay sheet such that a region of the underlay sheet overlaps a region of the headlap portion of the overlay sheet. A reinforcement material is secured to the headlap portion of the overlay sheet. The reinforcement material is configured to improve nail pull-through. The reinforcement material extends beyond the overlapping regions of the headlap portion and the underlay sheet a distance of about 0.12 inches or less.

摘要： A roofing membrane underlayment material includes a fibrous mat generally encapsulated within a non-adhesive asphalt coating, the resulting encapsulated mat having an adhesive asphalt layer applied to one surface thereof, typically the bottom surface. An acrylic, talc or granular coating is applied to the surface of the encapsulated mat that is not in contact with the adhesive asphalt layer. The non-adhesive asphalt coating is characterized in that it includes a high filler content made possible by the use of non-oxidized flux asphalt to which has been added a small percentage of an asphalt additive such as radial or linear polymer or other elastomer. The resulting membrane, when applied to a roofing deck, provides a high traction surface that will not adhere to shingles and provides an effective waterproofing seal on the roofing deck and is flexible in both hot and cold environments.
