    摘要: A shock attenuator capable for use with a high pressure fluid line at pressures experienced by waterjet cutting systems comprises an attenuator body having an internal generally axially-extending bore extending between end regions, at least one of which is open-ended. An end plug within the open-ended region of the bore seals the bore and has a though hole for accommodating a fitting for connection to a high pressure fluid line. A closure assembly for retaining the end plug within the bore includes a first plurality of generally radially-extending tabs extending from the attenuator body and circumferentially disposed about said axis, with each of said tabs of the first plurality being separated from the next tab by a respective gap. A second plurality of generally radially-extending tabs is coupled to the end plug and circumferentially disposed about said axis, with each of said tabs also being separated from the next tab by a respective gap. The second plurality of tabs is positioned for retention by said first plurality of tabs in such a way that the end plug is retained in the bore when subjected to the high pressure from high pressure fluid within the bore.In one embodiment, the first plurality of tabs extends outward from the body's exterior to engage the second plurality of tabs extending inwardly from an end cap.In another embodiment, the first plurality of tabs extends inwardly from the bore's wall to engage a second plurality of tabs extending outwardly from the end plug.

    摘要: A deflector device is provided for a liquid-jet cutter wherein the cutting element is mounted upon an assembly which moves the cutting element between cutting and idle positions. A deflector disk is located on the lower end of this support assembly as maintained in a stationary position immediately below the idle position. During operation, the cutting element is moved to a cutting position immediately adjacent the product support surface which provides products to be cut to the cutter. When it is desirable to halt cutting, the cutting element is moved to a position remote from the product support surface and above the deflector disk. The assembly utilized to control movement of the cutting element positions the cutter at a remote distance from the deflector disk when in an idle state to minimize wear upon the components. The assembly supporting the cutting element further enables the cutter to be located at an extremely close tolerance to the product support surface without concern for the need to locate a deflector therebetween. The present deflector mechanism removes the need for a valve assembly within the cutting element.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for performing high speed interruption of the flow of a very fine, high pressure, high speed water jet 12 of the type used to cut foods, paper, and other goods. The water jet 12 is interrupted by a pivotal blocking bar 22 within a blocker housing. The blocking bar 22 is pivoted in a collar 24b to a first desired position out of the path of water jet 12 or to a second desired position for blocking the path of water jet 12. A pivot arm 28, controlled by an output shaft 30 of a rotary actuator 32, controls the rotation of the blocking bar 22. A high pressured airflow is introduced into the device for controlling the exhaustion of blocked water within the device and for cooling the rotary actuator 32.
