An aerosol dispenser assembly is disclosed that includes a container holding a liquid product and a compressed gas propellant for propelling the liquid product from the container. A design methodology for the actuator body and swirl nozzle insert is disclosed for maintaining a small particle size or Sauter Mean Diameter (D[3, 2]) of less than 48 μm at a suitable spray rate (1.5-2 g/s), while utilizing a compressed gas VOC-free propellant for an air freshener product. As obtaining reduced particle size to compete with LPG propellants may result in a reduced spray rate, it is anticipated that one or more nozzles may be designed into the actuator body to maintain a suitable spray rate.

The second volume is smaller than the first volume, and the exit orifice disposed in the second section. The atomizer also includes a pintle movable to open and close the exit orifice and a plurality of tangential swirl channels disposed about a circumference of the swirl chamber. The reduced volume of the second section reduces the amount of static fluid to be accelerated into a flow pattern, thereby improving spray quality when the exit orifice is initially opened.

An aerosol dispenser has a canister to contain a liquid product to be dispensed together with a propellant present at least partly as a gas and valve to control the release of the liquid product from the canister. The dispenser also has a vapor phase tap for introducing a portion of the gaseous propellant into the liquid product as it is dispensed. The dispenser has a flow control device for varying the rate at which the propellant has is introduced into the liquid product through the vapor phase tape in dependence on the pressure of the contents of the canister. The flow control device can be used to reduce the amount of propellant gas bled into the liquid product, particularly when the dispenser is full and the pressure in the canister is high, as a way of conserving the propellant gas.

The invention is directed to a humidifying device which can be coupled to a conventional water feed pipe and shower head. The device includes a main body having a flow path, a diverter valve provided within the main body, the valve having at least two flow passageways therethrough, and a spray nozzle capable of being in fluid communication with one of the flow passageways of the diverter valve. The diverter valve can be placed in one of two positions, the position of the valve determining the flow path of water from the feed pipe. In the first position, water flows from the feed pipe, through the main body, and out the shower head. In the second position, the water flows from the feed pipe, through the main body and out the spray nozzle. The spray nozzle is capable of atomizing fluid flowing therefrom, thereby humidifying the air in a space.
