Abstract: Process for the removal of NOx (NO, NO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O) contained in a process off-gas comprising the steps of (a) adding an amount of a NOx reducing agent into the process off-gas;(b) in a first stage passing the process off-gas admixed with the reducing agent through a catalyst active in selective catalytic reduction of NOx with the reducing agent and providing an effluent gas comprising the nitrous oxide and residual amounts of reducing agent; and(c) in a second stage passing the effluent gas through a catalyst comprising a cobalt compound and being active in decomposition of nitrous oxide and oxidation of the residual amounts of the reducing agent.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a substrate containing passive NOx adsorption (PNA) materials for treatment of gases, and washcoats for use in preparing such a substrate. Also provided are methods of preparation of the PNA materials, as well as methods of preparation of the substrate containing the PNA materials. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to a coated substrate containing PNA materials for PNA systems, useful in the treatment of exhaust gases. Also disclosed are exhaust treatment systems, and vehicles, such as diesel or gasoline vehicles, particularly light-duty diesel or gasoline vehicles, using catalytic converters and exhaust treatment systems using the coated substrates.

Abstract: Cu-exchanged zeolite catalysts with a chabazite structure containing selected concentrations of alkali ions or alkaline-earth ions and a lower concentration of (Cu) ions are described and a sequential process for making. Catalysts of the present invention reduce light-off temperatures providing enhanced low-temperature conversion of NOx gases. Catalysts of the present invention also exhibit high selectivity values compared to conventional NOx reduction catalysts.

Abstract: A process for altering the composition of a feed gas containing H2S equivalents is disclosed. The process comprises (a) contacting the feed gas with a solid adsorbent at a temperature of 250-500° C., to obtain a loaded adsorbent, (b) purging the loaded adsorbent with a purge gas comprising steam, thus producing a product stream which typically contains substantially equal levels of CO2 and H2S. The process further comprises a step (c) of regenerating the purged adsorbent by removal of water. The adsorbent comprises alumina and one or more alkali metals, such as potassium oxides, hydroxide or the like.

Abstract: The invention relates to a catalyst system for reducing nitrogen oxides, which comprises a nitrogen oxide storage catalyst and an SCR catalyst, wherein the nitrogen oxide storage catalyst consists of at least two catalytically active washcoat layers on a supporting body, wherein a lower washcoat layer A contains cerium oxide, an alkaline earth compound and/or alkali compound, as well as platinum and palladium, and an upper washcoat layer B, which is arranged over the washcoat layer A, contains cerium oxide, platinum and palladium, and no alkali compound and no alkaline earth compound. The invention also relates to a method for converting NOx in exhaust gases of motor vehicles that are operated by means of engines that are operated in a lean manner.
