Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for training of neuromuscular functions using a gait trainer comprising an electrical motor, a weight sensor and a cable and a gait trainer therefore.
The method may comprise an act of determining a counterbalance weight to be applied to the cable by the electrical motor and an act of measuring with the weight sensor an actual applied weight to the cable by the patient, wherein a drive direction of the electrical motor is determined based on comparing the counterbalance weight with the measuring of the actual applied weight to the cable by the patient.
The gait trainer may comprise a hoist system with a rotatable cable drum and a cable to wind or rewind the cable around a rotatable cable drum in accordance with the drive direction set, based on the compared counterbalance weight with the measuring of the actual applied weight to the cable by the patient.
The gait trainer may further comprise an electrical motor adapted for axial engagement with the rotatable cable drum and adapted to drive the rotatable cable drum in a drive direction. The gait trainer may further comprise a weight sensor, a control unit, a processor and a motor controller.
The hoist system may be freely suspended by the weight sensor.-

Abstract: The driving system comprises: a first support structure; a second support structure supported by the first support structure for rotation about a stationary axis of rotation; a first actuation unit having a first motor device and a first output member; and a second actuation unit having a second motor device and a second output member. The first output member is drivingly connected with the second support structure for rotation about the first axis of rotation. The first motor device controls the rotation of the first output member, along with the second support structure, about the first axis of rotation. The second output member is supported by the second support structure for rotation about a second axis of rotation. The second motor device controls the rotation of the second output member about the second axis of rotation.

Abstract: A rehabilitation machine can have a chassis with actuators positioned behind a patient area. The actuators can have supports projecting toward the patient area and can have respective adapters shaped to engage the legs of a patient at the thigh, the calf, and the foot while the patient is in a standing or walking posture. The actuators can also have motors, transition elements, and linkages connected to apply moments through the adapters to achieve, for each leg, hip adduction/abduction, hip flexion/extension, knee flexion/extension, and foot plantar flexion/dorsiflexion according to signals from a controller. The actuators can be confined to a space, largely behind the patient, such that free arm swing is permitted when the patient is attached.

Abstract: The present invention provides a body lift-assist walker device for gait training is provided by the invention. The patient wears a pressurized body suit over all or a portion of his lower body, and the suit is attached to the walker device. A positive pressure or vacuum condition is applied to the interior of the suit, so that the differential pressure condition across the suit offloads a portion of the patient's body weight to the ground through the supportive walker device to make it easier for him to walk or run. The walker device also includes a lift-assisted body weight support device operated by a constant force mechanism like a pneumatic air cylinder that can lift the patient from a sitting position to a standing position with minimal physical effort. The device provides a portable and convenient system for persons undergoing physical therapy for treatment of gait or balance problems following an injury, stroke, or neurological disorder, or for use by elderly or disabled persons who have encounter difficulties in the sit-to-stand movement or walking.
