    摘要: An enclosure, vehicle, and method for containing an overheating device are provided. An enclosure includes a body and a door that form a volume. The body includes is connected to a Venturi tube that is in communication with a fluid flow path flowing across an opening at an opposite end. In the event an overheating device is placed in the enclosure, a pressure sensor measures a pressure in the volume and a controller opens a first valve in a flow path through the Venturi tube so that air is pumped from the volume via the Venturi effect. The first valve is closed when the measured pressure drops below a threshold pressure. The enclosure can also include an extinguishing agent that can be expelled into the volume if a temperature sensor measures a temperature above a threshold temperature.

    摘要: A detonation flame arrestor including an outer cylinder, an inner cylinder, transition point/attenuation matrix and tortuous path media. The inner cylinder is secured to a canister flange and positioned inside the outer cylinder secured to the canister flange, altogether forming a canister. The torturous path media is positioned in the canister between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder to to provide turbulence and a large surface area which acts as a heat sink to extinguish a flame. Both the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder include a transition point/attenuation matrix which forms their respective cylindrical circumferences. Helical or parallel wire or rings create the transition point/attenuation matrix which attenuates and creates turbulence as the first stage of quenching a flame front.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a flashback protector (1) for limiting the propagation of a flame towards a fuel supply. The flashback protector comprises a downstream side (34) and an upstream side (32) defining a flow path between them. A magnetic-field generator (10, 20) is arranged to generate a magnetic field (40) across the flow path such that when a flashback occurs fluid flows in the flow path towards the fuel supply through the magnetic field (40). This causes a flow of current (50) to be induced in the fluid. This results in a force being generated on the fluid away from the fuel supply, preventing the flashback from reaching the fuel supply and causing an explosion.

    摘要: A method of inhibiting combustion within a vacuum pump is provided. The method steps include monitoring and composition of a fluid within the pump and supplying purge gas to the pump to inhibit the onset of a combustion of the fluid. There is also provided a pumping arrangement comprising a vacuum pump (1) together with means (8) for supplying purge gas to the pump. Sensor means (21a, 21b, 21c) are provided for outputting a signal indicative of the onset of a combustion condition within the pump. Control means (22) receive the signal and, in turn, actuate the supply means (9) dependant on the signal received.

    摘要: An explosion arresting assembly, especially for use in pipe systems, includes a housing including a sheath circumferentially surrounding an internal chamber and having two axially spaced end regions, two end elements each juxtaposed with one of the end regions of the sheath and each having a portion extending outwardly of the sheath all around the latter and provided with a plurality of circumferentially distributed holes that are aligned with one another as between the two end elements, at least one of the end elements having an opening communicating with said internal chamber, and a plurality of bolts with associated nuts, the bolts passing through the respective aligned ones of the holes, connecting the two end elements with one another and confining the sheath therebetween. An anti-explosion insert including a stack of substantially planar lamellae and integral or separate distancing elements defining respective passages between such lamellae is tightly received in the internal chamber.
