A fluid end comprises one or more intake chambers, one or more exhaust chambers, a compression chamber, a plunger chamber, and one or more intake manifolds. The intake manifolds are fluidly connected to the intake chambers such that the intake manifolds are adapted to deliver the hydraulic fracturing fluid to the intake chambers. The intake chambers comprise intake valve assemblies adapted to regulate flow from the intake chambers to the compression chamber. One of the intake chambers comprises an anti-cavitation chamber positioned across from and co-planar with the plunger chamber. The anti-cavitation device is positioned within the anti-cavitation chamber. A method of reducing cavitation is provided, the method comprises the step of inserting the anti-cavitation device into the access opening of the fluid end. The anti-cavitation device may be used in existing, previously used, or new fluid ends.

The variable-flow-path air valve includes a valve body with a top provided with an air intake-exhaust port. A ball valve seat and a floating ball are arranged below the air intake-exhaust port. The valve body is provided with at least one swing check valve configured to be opened inward. The swing check valve includes: a swing valve disc connected to a valve body hinge, a variable-flow-path air inlet controlled by the swing valve disc to open and close, a device for limiting the opening degree of the swing valve disc, and a sealing device. In the present invention, the air valve takes in air through the air intake-exhaust port and the variable flow path, and discharges air only through the air intake-exhaust port.

Disclosed are processes and systems for preventing overpressurization of piping transporting fluid produced from a pressure source to a receiving facility in which the fluid passes through a high integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS). A relief device is provided in the piping in fluid communication with the HIPPS. In the event that fluid passing through the HIPPS during the valve closure time period has a property exceeding an activation property, the relief device is activated thereby allowing the fluid passing through the HIPPS during the valve closure time period to flow to a fluid containment volume. The fluid containment volume has sufficient volume such that upon the start of the closure of the valve in response to the pressure surge, a portion of the fluid passing through the HIPPS during the valve closure time period is absorbed by the fluid containment volume thereby lessening pressure increase in the piping.
