摘要: A dialysis system (e.g., a hemodialysis (HD) system) can be designed to operate in alternative environments, such as disaster relief settings or underdeveloped regions. The dialysis system can include a solar panel for generating electricity to power the dialysis machine and an atmospheric water generator for extracting water from ambient air. The extracted water can be used to generate dialysate and saline on-site. One or more of the components of the dialysis machine can be discrete components that are configured to facilitate fast shipping and simple on-site assembly (e.g., at a remote location). In some implementations, the discrete components may be configured to be attached to an existing dialysis system (e.g., a dialysis system designed for operation in a traditional environment) to permit the dialysis system to operate in an alternative environment.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for producing a consistent and effective herbal vapor. A sealed container pod may include a chamber wall defining an internal volume within which a pre-processed herbal composition (e.g., cannabis) is located. The container pod may include filters for the vapor produced from the herbal composition. The container pod may also include a support member for holding and evenly distributing the herbal composition within the internal volume during vaporization. A vaporizer may be configured to obtain information regarding the contents of the herbal composition. The vaporizer may expose the herbal composition to an automated series of timed temperature adjustments specifically tailored for producing a desirable herbal vapor. The herbal vapor may be collected into a bag and/or canister for subsequent consumption.

摘要: A breathable gas supply apparatus for a patient features a breathable gas supply system and a respiratory mask assembly in communication with the breathable gas supply system. The breathable gas supply system provides a supply of breathable gas to the respiratory mask assembly and removes a supply of exhaled gas from the respiratory mask assembly. The breathable gas supply system includes a housing having an inspiration chamber and an exhalation chamber and a movable structure in communication with the inspiration and exhalation chambers. The movable structure moves in phase with a respiratory cycle of a patient. In one preferred embodiment, the breathable gas supply system includes a second movable structure, which moves in response to a phase of the respiratory cycle of the patient. In another one preferred embodiment, the breathable gas supply system is powered to assist the patient's respiratory effort.

摘要: The present invention comprises a dry powder inhaler (DPI) that uses a patient's inhalation flow to concentrate energy in an aeroelastic element for deaggregation and dispersion of a powder dose. The result is a DPI that delivers a dose independent of inspiratory abilities of the patient, solving a major problem of conventional DPIs. Increased tension on the aeroelastic element causes higher frequency vibrations and improved powder dispersion. The tension of the aeroelastic element can be modified prior to dispensing the DPI to the patient, allowing for individualization for single patients or groups of patients. In addition, the DPI has features that increase the turbulence of the airflow as it passes through the device, further increasing the dispersion and deaggregation of the powder. The DPI can hold a single dose or multiple doses. The powder doses can be dispensed directly onto the aeroelastic element, or may be in adjacent blister packaging.

A tensioning assembly is configured to apply a first amount of tension to the aeroelastic element such that the aeroelastic element is capable of vibrating in response to airflow through the chamber so as to aerosolize the dose of powdered medicament.

摘要: A blister piercing element for puncturing the lid of a blister containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user is disclosed. It comprises a body having a surface and an opening in the surface for the passage of air, or for the passage of medicament entrained in air, through the body. The body includes a pair of spaced cutting teeth upstanding from the surface in spaced side-by-side relation, each cutting tooth projecting in cantilevered form over said opening and each having a distal cutting edge at a free end remote from said surface. The distal cutting edge of each tooth is configured to initiate a slit in a blister lid when pressure is applied to a blister lid by the teeth and the teeth are spaced from each other so that separate slits cut by the distal cutting edge of each tooth propagate in a direction toward each other between the teeth as the teeth continue to penetrate a blister lid. The pair of spaced cutting teeth form a single slit in a blister lid that defines a single flap which is folded into the blister by the teeth.
