Abstract: A neuromorphic controlled powered orthotic and prosthetic system and device including a custom or universal fit fixed-ankle orthosis, to stabilize or immobilize an injured lower limb or act as an ankle prosthesis, and an actuated or powered articulated false-foot connected to the fixed-ankle orthosis or the prosthesis to form an actuated articulated false-foot orthosis. Associated with or mounted on the actuated articulated false-foot, or in or on the body, are sensors for sensing the intent of the subject to move, and the movement range of the articulating false-foot or AAFO and an environmental perturbation. An actuator is used to drive the articulated false-foot orthosis. The system and device further include a controller having an electronic circuit with a biomimetic design based on knowledge of connectivity of neurons within the spinal cord of a primitive vertebrate. The system and device include an electronic circuit made from analog very large scale integrated components and discrete electronic components capable of autonomously generating cyclic voltage output. An integral power supply serves the portable controller and AAFO.

Abstract: An orthopedic system includes a base shell forming an opening over a dorsal aspect thereof and a dorsal shell contoured to generally correspond to the opening of the base shell. The base shell has a proximal member and a distal member connected to the proximal member, each has a semi-rigid shell configuration to protect and support a lower leg, an ankle, or a foot of a user when received in the orthopedic system. A flexible toe portion is attached to a distal terminal end area of the distal member and formed of a different material than the distal member. The flexible toe portion is arranged to terminate above an upper surface of the user's toes and to flex relative to the distal member and the toes so as to reduce the likelihood of pressure points on the toes from the distal member.

Abstract: A mobility device for assisting an individual with limited or altered mobility due to a leg injury or condition. The mobility device includes a rod that defines a longitudinal axis of the mobility device, a foot rest slidably mounted for longitudinal translation along the rod, a seat located at an upper end of the mobility device, and an impact-absorbing mechanism for absorbing impacts transferred from the seat to the rod. Abstract: A sling for use with wheeled walker is disclosed. The sting reversibly attached to the two handles of a walker and forms a sling in which a user can place a leg. When a user cradles an injured or otherwise burdened leg in the nadir of the sling, the stress on their joints is partially alleviated and their upright stability is supported, The sling is removable and adjustable by the user and may be cleaned and disinfected as necessary, allowing it to be used and reused by those in a rehabilitation of assistive care facility.

Abstract: A kick scooter includes a frame having a head tube for supporting handlebars and a front fork, an elongated frame member extending along a length of the frame, the frame member having a first end attached to the head tube and a second end configured for attachment to a rear wheel, the frame member being angularly disposed relative to the head tube. Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a knee-position control system having a knee engagement pad, a lower-leg control member and an upper-leg control member, the knee engagement pad configured to naturally position a user's knee in response to movement of a foot-rest of a natural-gait therapy system. In an illustrative embodiment, the upper-leg control member may pivot about a point substantially axially coincident with a user's hip. In some embodiments, the upper-leg control member may be pivotally coupled to the lower-leg control member at a pivot point substantially axially coincident with a user's knee. The lower-leg control member may be pivotably coupled to the foot rest at a pivot point substantially axially coincident with a user's ankle. The knee-position control system may advantageously position a user's knee in a natural position relative to both the user's ankle and the user's hip, in response to movement of the user's foot.

Abstract: In embodiments, a mobility system can include a support member configured to engage a posterior region of a user and a mast attachable to the support member in proximity of a hip joint of the user. The mast is structured to extend above the user's waist along one side of the user. The mast can be at least partially lifted from the ground and repositioned when a weight of the user is shifted to a mobile leg of the user. The mast can also receive a force exerted on the support member by the user, such that the weight of the user is supported from an attachment site of the mast and the support member (i.e., from an attachment point near the user's hip joint) when the weight of the user is shifted away from the mobile leg of the user.

Abstract: A limb-support assembly for use with an assistive device includes a weight-bearing member having a first edge. The weight-bearing member includes a planar receiving surface configured for receiving a user's lower limb. A mounting assembly is configured for removably coupling the weight-bearing member to an assistive device.
