摘要: An inflatable penile prosthesis may include a fluid reservoir configured to hold fluid, an inflatable member, and a pump assembly configured to transfer fluid between the fluid reservoir and the inflatable member. The pump assembly may include a pump bulb, a valve block, a plurality of valves disposed within the valve block, a first fluid port in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir, and a second fluid port in fluid communication with the inflatable member. The plurality of valves includes a control valve configured to move between an inflation position and a deflation position to control the flow of fluid within the valve block and the transfer of fluid between the fluid reservoir and the inflatable member.

Such transponders may assist in preventing interference of transponders with medical imaging technologies. Such transponders may optionally be of a small size, and may assist in collecting and transmitting data and information regarding implanted medical devices. Methods of using such transponders, readers for detecting such transponders, and methods for using such readers are also described.

摘要: A spinal implant for placement between vertebral bodies includes a first member for engaging one of the vertebral bodies, a second member for engaging an opposing one of the vertebral bodies, and at least one extendable support element for inducing movement of the entire first member away from the second member. The first member is connected to the second member such that the first member moves away from the second member by a larger distance at a first end of the implant than at a second end of the implant. A connecting member may connect the first and second members together at the second end of the implant. The connecting member may include one or more rotatable linkages, or the connecting member may be an extension of one of the first and second members slidably received within a track defined within the other of the first and second members.

摘要: A blood clot removal method for removing blood clots from the vascular system of a patient, the blood clot removal method carried out on an implantable device in the patient's body and comprising: allowing a blood flow through a passageway between a first side wall and a second side wall, filtering blood clots with a filter provided in the blood flow passageway, and cleaning the filter with a cleaning device, wherein the cleaning device is moved from the first side wall towards the second side wall to move blood clots away from the blood flow passageway.

摘要: An implantable fluid operated device may include a fluid reservoir configured to hold fluid, an inflatable member, and an electronic fluid control system to transfer fluid between the fluid reservoir and the inflatable member. The fluid control system includes at least one pump and at least one valve including a piezoelectric actuator. The piezoelectric actuator includes a diaphragm, and a piezoelectric element coupled to the diaphragm. The piezoelectric element deforms in response to a voltage applied by an electronic control system of the fluid control system. The diaphragm deforms in response to deformation of the piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric actuator actuates the at least one pump and at least one valve to control a flow of fluid based on one of an amount of deformation or a direction of the deformation of the diaphragm.

摘要: An apparatus includes a bodily implant configured to be implanted into a body of a patient. The bodily implant includes an inflatable member, a sensor, and a controller. The inflatable member is configured to be disposed within a portion of the body of the patient and place pressure on a portion of a body of th patient. The sensor is operatively coupled to the inflatable member and configured to detect a fluidic pressure within the inflatable member. The controller is configured to receive pressure data from the sensor during a transition between a deflated configuration and an inflated configuration of the inflatable member and detect, based on the received pressure data, atrophy of the portion of the body of the patient.

摘要: Misaligned bones on opposite sides of a joint are aligned using a first rigid extension securable to one of the misaligned bones using a particular surgical approach, and a second rigid extension having a contacting surface positionable in contact with the other the two misaligned bones from the same surgical approach. The first and second rigid extensions are moved with respect to each other using a lever, whereby a pulling force is exerted on one of the bones, and a pushing force on the other, thereby aligning the first and second misaligned bones.
