摘要: The present invention discloses an insertion unit, a bending section and an intubation system for use in a body lumen of a patient. The insertion unit comprises an inner elongated shaft structure being capable of torque transmission around its length axis and having spring-like and flexibility properties and an outer elongated shaft structure at least partially surrounding the inner elongated shaft structure and having spring-like properties and a continuous and flat outer surface. The inner elongated shaft structure has a distal end, and is capable of being connected to an optical head. The insertion unit is configured to transmit pushing and rotation forces along a length of the insertion unit. The integral insertion unit is configured and operable to bend the distal tip in all directions and to fully rotate the distal tip.

An endoscopic procedure may be performed, during which fluid moves along an outside surface of the elongate shaft, the fluid moving from the distal end toward the proximal end, and where the fluid is directed to a drip flange coupled to the outside surface of the elongate shaft between the distal tip and a proximal end of the elongate shaft.

摘要: Several embodiments of the present invention are generally directed to medical visualization systems that comprise combinations of disposable and reusable components, such as catheters, functional handles, hubs, optical devices, etc. Other embodiments of the present invention are generally directed to features and aspects of an in-vivo visualization system that comprises an endoscope having a working channel through which a catheter having viewing capabilities is routed. the catheter may obtain viewing capabilities by being constructed as a vision catheter or by having a fiberscope or other viewing device selectively routed through one of its channels. The catheter is preferably of the steerable type so that the distal end of the catheter may be steered from its proximal end as it is advanced with the body. A suitable use for the in-vivo visualization system includes but is not limited to diagnosis and/or treatment of the duodenum, and particularly the biliary tree.

摘要: A shape measuring apparatus includes a cylindrical flexible body and a bend detection sensor. The sensor includes an optical fiber extending along the flexible body, a detection target to vary characteristics of detection light guided through the optical fiber in accordance with a curvature of the optical fiber, and a light detection unit to detect the detection light. The shape measuring apparatus also includes a shape calculating device to calculate a bend shape of the flexible body, based on the variation of the characteristics of the detection light, a cylindrical sheathing member sheathing a part of the optical fiber in the flexible body, and a hard distal member provided at a distal end of the flexible body and holding a distal end of the sheathing member.
