Abstract:
An apparatus for dispensing a liquid is disclosed. The apparatus can include a cap configured to connect to a container body having a chamber for containing the liquid. The cap can include a fill aperture through which the liquid is supplied to the container body and a pour aperture through which the liquid exits the apparatus. A fill lid can be rotatable about a pivot axis in a first direction to close the fill aperture and rotatable about the pivot axis in a second direction to open the fill aperture, the first direction opposite the second direction. A pour lid can be rotatable about the pivot axis in the first direction to open the pour aperture and rotatable about the pivot axis in the second direction to close the pour aperture. A filter assembly comprising a filter cartridge can connect to the cap.
Abstract:
A roll-up water bottle comprises a hollow cylindrical opening adjacent one end thereof. The opening retains a removable closure/filter assembly. That assembly includes a filter retained within a bottle cap. The cap is positioned within a bottle opening support member retained within the hollow cylindrical opening. The filter housing is generally cylindrical but also includes an outer profile that includes a pair of opposed flat walls. When the filter is secured within the bottle cap and the cap secured within the bottle opening support member, a pair of water flow channels are created. Upon the user applying suction or pressure from squeezing the bottle, water contained with the bottle flows through vent openings in the filter, but also up through the water flow channels. The result is a more even distribution of fluid across a greater portion of the filter.
Abstract:
Provided are flexible containers for holding a concentrate, the containers comprising: a flexible body holding the concentrate, a spout, a filter element disposed in the spout, the filter element comprising a filter and an attachment element configured to attach to a water source. Also provided are methods of reconstituting concentrated products using the flexible containers.
Abstract:
A wearable or portable intermittently operable hydration system (10) includes a purification module (22) that contains one or more solid state UW devices that are positioned in the path of hydrating fluid, or water, flow through the hydration system to a mouthpiece (18) or other orifice. The purification module (22) provides a path for the fluid past one or more solid state LW devices, such as LW LEDs, that produce LW radiation in a germicidal range. When the fluid is flowing past the UV LEDs, the LEDs are turned on to provide sufficient UW radiation to purify the water. The UW LEDs are instant on devices with essentially no ramp-up required, and a sensor (20) or other signaling means in the flow path controls the turning on of the UV LEDs whenever the user initiates the fluid flow. The fluid flow path may run from a bladder (12) in a backpack (19) worn by the user, a sports bottle worn by or carried by the user or may be through a water filtration system that a user operates via a pump. The power for the purification module may come from batteries, solar cells, fuel cells, power converted from pumping or winding action or any combination thereof. Further, UV LEDs may be included in the walls of the container as additional or alternative sources of UV radiation. The UV LEDs in the walls of the container may then be turned on when sufficient energy is available, as a precaution against, for example, a change in environmental conditions.
Abstract:
A detent and numerical indicia are associated with a cap for a water treatment apparatus to keep track of how many times a bottle in which the treatment apparatus is disposed has been filled and emptied, to provide for periodic replacement of the filter media. The treatment apparatus is for attachment to a bottle with an opening at a neck portion, and includes an elongated tube, a cartridge containing water treatment media connected to one end of the tube, and a cap for capping the other end of the tube. The cap includes a body having through-extending passages therein, and a top which is movable with respect to the body to selectively cover or uncover the passageways. A detent is associated with the cap body and the top for providing detented rotation of the top with respect to the body. Indicia are associated with the cap top and the cap body for indicating each detented position. Thirty-one Arabic numbered positions and another blank position may be provided as the indicia, cooperating with an arrow that is stationary. Each time the bottle is filled the cap top is rotated one position with respect to the body, and once the last indicia is indicated on the top, the filter is replaced. An adaptor connects the tube to the filter cartridge, and the adaptor can also include water treatment media.
Abstract:
A portable, personal apparatus for transporting liquid having a bottle configured to contain liquid. The bottle has a longitudinal axis. A first opening open in a direction generally parallel with the longitudinal axis in a pour position. A first cover coupled to the bottle and configured to close the first opening in a closed position. A second opening open in a direction generally orthogonal with the longitudinal axis in a fill position. A second cover coupled to the bottle and configured to close the second opening in a storage position. The second cover remaining coupled to the bottle when the second cover is in the fill position.

Abstract:
A system and process for taking a liquid such as water from a source and supplying the liquid by, for example, pushing the liquid through a filter provided inside a reservoir in order to render the liquid clean and potable. The reservoir and filter may be surrounded 360-degrees by a pressure bladder that may be wrapped with a material such as nylon, so that substantially all pressure goes inwards towards the filter.
