    摘要: A well for producing oil from an underground formation, comprises a vertical section extending from the surface to a depth below the oil-producing formation; a sidetrack or perforated interval (production zone) extending from the vertical section into the oil-producing formation; and a valve, located in the well, and operable to prevent flow of fluid from the vertical section into the production zone and a valve to prevent flow of fluid from the portion below the production zone into the production zone or into the vertical section above the production zone. A method of producing oil from the well comprises allowing oil and water to flow into the well via the production zone until the hydrostatic pressure of the oil and water in the well balances the formation pressure of the oil-producing formation such that further flow into the well ceases; allowing the oil and water in the vertical section of the well to separate under gravity so as to produce (i) a lower layer of water, at least part of which is located in the part of the vertical section below the oil-producing formation, and (ii) an upper layer of oil having its upper surface below the well surface and its lower surface above the production zone; forcing the separated oil and water back down the well and operating the valve such that substantially no fluid is forced into the production zone, an water is forced into the underground formation below the oil-producing formation; and allowing oil and water flow to recommence from the production zone.

    摘要: A system and method for sampling fluid from a production wellsite are provided. The system includes an interface operatively connectable to the port and a separation circuit operatively connectable to the interface for establishing fluid communication therebetween. The separation circuit includes a pumping unit and at least one sample chamber. The pumping unit includes pumping chambers having a cylinder with a piston therein defining a fluid cavity and a buffer cavity. The fluid cavities define a separation chamber for receiving the fluid and allowing separation of the fluid therein into phases. The buffer cavities have a buffer fluid selectively movable therebetween whereby the fluid flows through the separation circuit at a controlled rate. The sample chamber is for collecting at least one sample of the phases of the fluid.

    摘要: A system and method for sampling fluid from a production wellsite are provided. The system includes an interface operatively connectable to the port and a separation circuit operatively connectable to the interface for establishing fluid communication therebetween. The separation circuit includes a pumping unit and at least one sample chamber.     摘要: An apparatus and method for measuring a mass flow rate of a multi-phase fluid flowing through a conduit. The apparatus includes a differential pressure element located in the conduit, wherein a first differential pressure measurement device is in communication with the multi-phase fluid between a first and second position across the differential pressure element and is able to measure a first fluid differential pressure. A second differential pressure measurement device is in communication with the multi-phase fluid between a third and fourth position across the differential pressure element and is able to measure a second fluid differential pressure. A processor is in communication with the first and second differential pressure measurement devices, and is able to calculate the Reynolds number and discharge coefficient using the first and second fluid differential pressures. The processor is also capable of calculating the mass flow rate by using the Reynolds number and discharge coefficient.
