The disclosed systems and methods provide systems and methods for automatically filtering a compressed media file for perceptual display of the media content in a modified, higher-resolution format. The disclosed systems and methods apply novel visual filtering techniques to a compressed media file that enable the display of the rendered media content to appear to be displayed as a modified, higher-resolution version of itself without actually modifying the compressed media file during rendering.
