摘要: Systems and methods for performing User Plane (UP) path selection or reselection over a communications network with a 3rd party entity, and for notifying network entities of UP changes in a communications network, are disclosed. The method includes: receiving an application program interface based request for UP path selection from the 3rd party entity; performing a validation and authorization procedure with the request; transmitting a UP path selection configuration request to a Control Plane Function that maintains configuration data; obtaining a reference number confirming the UP path selection configuration request; and installing the UP path selection according to the reference number.

摘要: The disclosure concerns a method and communication system for user path (UP) reselection. The method includes sending, from a network entity, a request to influence UP path reselection, the request indicating an application function (AF) location to be included in the UP path reselection. The method further includes generating, by a policy control function (PCF), a policy associated with the request and providing, by the PCF, the policy to a session management function (SMF). The method additionally includes performing, by the SMF, the UP path reselection for a session according to the policy and acknowledging, by the PCF, the request to the network entity.

摘要: The present invention provides a system and method for managing a mobile object using a plurality of machine type communication devices (MTCDs) communicatively connected to a communication network. A mobile object can be considered a virtual MTCD which can be managed and/or tracked by an array of MTCDs which are communicatively connected with the communication network. The MTCDs detect the mobile object and obtain or determine one or more parameters indicative of movement of the object. By tracking the movement of the object, the system can substantially ensure that there are connected MTCDs in the area to which the object is moving, thereby enabling the management and/or tracking of the mobile object can be provided by actively modifying the configuration of the communication network, for example using network function virtualization.

摘要: There is provided a method and system for management of Machine Type Communication (MTC) events. The system and method enables the detection of a state of the MTC event, correlating the state of MTC event with a Virtual Network Function (VNF) state of a VNF configured to mitigate the MTC event and transitioning the VNF to the VNF state which correlates with the MTC state. In this manner, the VNF can be in a configured and active state in advance of the MTC event reaching a critical state, thereby enabling mitigation of the MTC event prior to reaching the critical state.

摘要: A method and apparatus for scaling a VNF on a first PoP associated with at least one wireless device (WD) to a second PoP. A probabilistic estimate of a likelihood that the WD(s) will be handed over to at least one candidate PoP is generated and a VNF state associated with such candidate(s) is scaled and populated with state context information related to a handover of the WD(s) from the first PoP to the candidate(s). The second PoP is identified from the candidate(s) prior to handover using the probabilistic estimate. Thereafter the VNF is scaled from the first PoP to the second PoP, followed by handover of the WD(s) from the first PoP to the second PoP.
