    摘要: The Radio Data System (RDS) protocol promulgated by the European Broadcasting Union provides for alternate frequencies (AF) for the same broadcast. Receivers periodically switch over to such an alternate frequency, leading to momentary crackling noises. In a radio receiver having a device for temporary switchover from a received frequency to some other frequency, substitute signals are inserted into the audio signals that are interrupted during the temporary switchover. The substitute signals are formed from the audio signals before and optionally also after the temporary switchover.

    摘要: In a circuit for a demodulator of a radio data signal in a radio receiver, the multiplex signal in digital form is mixed into the baseband, in two phase positions shifted 90.degree. with respect to each other, after band-pass filtering, together with a reference carrier generated at a sampling clock rate produced in the radio receiver, thus producing a first and a second mix signal. A first and a second auxiliary signal with, respectively, a sine waveform and a cosine waveform are produced. The first mix signal is multiplied by the first auxiliary signal, and the second mix signal by the second auxiliary signal. The results of these multiplications are added together, producing a first output signal. The first mix signal is multiplied by the second auxiliary signal, and the second mix signal by the first auxiliary signal, and the results subtracted from each other, thus producing a second output signal. The phase position of the auxiliary signals is controlled in such a manner that the first output signal corresponds to the radio data signal (RDS) shifted down into the baseband.

    摘要: A radio data system (RDS) receiver has a station selector circuit including a microprocessor, several Alternative Frequency (AF) memory cells, and at least one learning memory cell associated with each AF memory cell. In a preferred embodiment, a counter is associated with each learning memory cell. The AF memory cells store alternative frequencies decoded from a Radio Data System signal. As each station is tuned successfully, i.e. with adequate signal strength, its frequency is stored in one of the learning memory cells. When signal deterioration requires a skip to a new frequency, the "skip frequencies" stored in the learning memory cells are preferred to other frequencies. The counters keep track of how many times, since power-up, each frequency has been successfully tuned, and the frequency with the highest count is the "most preferred" alternative frequency.

The amplitudes of at least one sideband generated by modulation with the auxiliary signal and of the received carrier are compared in the IF signal. In case of deviations from a ratio based on the modulation factor during modulation with the auxiliary signal, a signal indicating the presence of intermodulation is derived.

    摘要: Intermediate frequency FM signals are converted to digital form and the digital words of successive samples are clocked into a three place shift register. The sum of the values in the first and third stages of the register is divided by the value in the middle stage and the quotient values are then averaged by groups or as a moving average to provide the demodulated signal. Errors in the operation of the divider circuit can be avoided by detecting null values of the content of the middle cell of the shift register to suppress erroneous quotients, or else the values from which the quotients are formed are both squared before dividing. In the latter case the dc component can be eliminated from the output by subtracting a constant.

    摘要: An improved FM car radio includes a recognition circuit for detecting intermittent multipath reception from the audio frequency signal, rather than from the intermediate frequency signal, as in prior art detectors. The output signal of the stereo decoder 6 is fed to a recognition circuit containing a 90.degree. phase shifter 14, a multiplier circuit 15, a low-pass filter 16, a rectifier 17, and another low-pass filter 18. The resulting output signal U.sub.q is a measure of the quality of the signal, and can be used to initiate re-tuning to an alternate transmitter. For faster response, the recognition circuit can include a second signal path and a quotient former stage 23, resulting in an output signal U.sub.q *. Either U.sub.q or U.sub.q * is fed back to a threshold value stage 19 for evaluation.

    摘要: For elimination of pulse type interference in an FM receiver by intermittent blanking of the received signal while interfering pulses are present and substitution of a synthetic signal during the blanking intervals, the synthetic signal substituted during the blanking intervals is produced by interpolation using finite duration impulse response digital filters, instead of using the last undisturbed value of the received signal modified by integration of its last value of rate of change with respect to time. The determination of the blanking interval is optimized by reference to the maximum and minimum peak values of the output of an AM detector of the received signal and comparing an interference signal magnitude thus obtained with a threshold value of the interference signal, so as to define the blanking interval as the interval during which the interference signal exceeds the reference signal value. The interference signal compared with the reference value is produced by computing the sum and product of the maximum and minimum peak values, adding the product to the output of the squarer operating on the output of the AM demodulator, multiplying the sum of the maximum and minimum peak values by the AM demodulator output, dividing the product plus squarer sum by the multiplied output of the AM demodulator, forming the arc cosine of the output of the divider and then differentiating the arc cosine value.
