    摘要: Apparatus is disclosed for data compression by a decreasing slope threshold test using digital techniques in which the data stream through an input register is examined and only those samples of the raw data are selected for transmission which have a first difference (slope) that exceeds an exponentially decaying threshold function relative to a bias. If a sample is transmitted, it becomes the new bias and a generator of the threshold function is reset. For threshold comparison, the bias is first subtracted from each first difference to produce a second difference for direct comparison of its absolute value with the absolute value of the threshold function, thereby allowing the function generator to run from a constant reference to generate a single sided exponentially decaying function.

    摘要: A biorthogonal encoder of modular design with each module operating in a serial or cyclic mode. The number of modules M is equal to N/2 if N, the number of bits of the data word, is even, or to (N+1)2 if N is odd. Each module includes a 2-bit shift register, a storage bit and a mod 2 gate. The input to the register is a mod 2 function of the register''s output and that of the storage bit. The outputs of all the M modules are added mod 2 to provide the 2N bits of each code word in sequence.

    摘要: Asynchronously multiplexed sample data sub-systems employ transmission over a single line to a remote synchronizer and demultiplexer. At the remote synchronizer, the data is recovered by synchronizing signals derived from the data itself. A sub-system, or satellite location, supplies continuously sampled binary data along with a satellite identification and synchronizing sequence as a satellite message frame. This information is supplied bit-serially, to a multiplexer junction. The multiplexed satellite information is delivered asynchronously onto a single line transmission channel with other like bit serial satellite message information from other satellite monitoring sites. Such satellite information is transmitted to a central collection and analysis site where it is demultiplexed according to the words and bits that make up a satellite message frame. At least two message frames from each satellite monitoring site are always placed on the single transmission channel as a single block of data for that satellite. This technique, at the demultiplexer, assures proper recognition of a desired message frame based upon a comparison of satellite identification sequences and a frame synchronization sequence.

The possible counts are divided into fields which are sensed and the clock rate is reduced by a factor of two, as the count changes from one field to a lower field. Each field is further divided into several subfields which are also detected to control the clock rate to vary from subfield to subfield.

    摘要: A switch controller in a multi-computer processing system functions to establish a data path between any two computers in the system and maintain that data path, without interference, while establishing other independent unidirectional data paths with other pairs of computers. All computers in the system are continuously and rapidly scanned for a request-to-send signal. Those computers that are already engaged in data transmission are leap-frogged by the scanning mechanism. When a request-to-send signal is detected by a particular scanning mechanism, that scanning mechanism stops at the computer generating the request, to provide for an interconnection between the requesting sender and the intended receiver. If during this interconnection phase, it is determined that the intended receiver is occupied, the interconnection is prevented from being completed and the scanning mechanism is instructed to resume scanning of the computers for another request-to-send signal.
