摘要: The method includes providing a powder that has heterogeneous particles with a ratio, by weight, of an amount of nickel to an amount of a metal. The ratio is selected in accordance with a compositional ratio that can substantially bear a nickel intermetallic precipitate of the nickel and the metal. The heterogeneous particles are then consolidated and thermally treated to interdiffuse the nickel and the metal. The interdiffused nickel and metal are then precipitation treated to precipitate the nickel intermetallic.

摘要: A pressure vessel configured to store a pressurized fluid is provided including a plurality of lobes. Each lobe includes at least one vertically arranged interior wall. The plurality of lobes are positioned in a side by side configuration such that a first interior wall of a first lobe is positioned adjacent a second interior wall of a second adjacent lobe. The first interior wall and the second interior wall are configured to contact one another at a first point of tangency. A first tangent intersects the first lobe at the first point of tangency and a second tangent intersects the second lobe at the first point of tangency. The first tangent and the second tangent are separated by about 120 degrees.

摘要: A cold spray system includes a powder generator and a powder feeder. The powder generator has a powder source disposed within a housing. The powder feeder is in fluid communication with the housing and the powder generator within the housing. A closed circuit defined from the powder generator to the powder feeder conveys powder from the powder generator to the powder feeder without exposing the powder to contaminates from outside the closed circuit.

摘要: A method of fabricating a functionally graded turbine engine component is disclosed and includes the step of depositing layers of powder onto a base and solidifying/fusing each layer with a first directed energy beam to define a component. The method further includes varying a process parameter between deposited layers to define different material properties within the component. The method also proposes surface enhancement approach that can be used after depositing each layer to locally customize the material properties. The method also proposes machining the different internal surfaces to achieve the proper surface finishing required.

摘要: A hybrid airfoil for a gas turbine engine is provided that includes a body and a panel. The body has a first side and a second side orientated opposite the first side. The first and second sides extend between a tip, a base, a leading edge and a trailing edge. The body includes a plurality of cavities disposed in the first side of the body, which cavities extend inwardly toward the second side. The cavities collectively form an opening. At least one rib is disposed between the cavities. A shelf is disposed around the opening. The panel is attached to the shelf first mounting surface and to the rib, and is sized to enclose the opening. The panel is a load bearing structure operable to transfer loads to the body and receive loads from the body.
