    摘要: A thermoplastic norbornene resin having a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 12,000 or more in terms of polyisoprene value measured by gel permeation chromatography and excellent in low birefringence property and resistance to deterioration with greases and oils is obtained by ring-opening polymerizing a polycyclic norbornene monomer containing at least 70% by weight of a norbornene monomer represented by the following formula I (for example, 1,4-methano-1,4,4a,9a-tetrahydrofluorene): ##STR1## (wherein the lower 6-membered ring structure may have a double bond) and hydrogenating the polymer so that the hydrogenation rate of double bond in the main chain is at least 98% and the hydrogenation rate of the 6-membered ring structure is at least 90%.

    摘要: A process for producing a cycloolefin addition polymer comprising addition-polymerizing a cycloolefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a combination of a specific transition metal compound of Group 4 of the Periodic Table, with an organoaluminum oxy compound, and/or a compound capable of reacting with the Group 4 transition metal compound to form an ion pair. The specific group 4 transition metal compound preferably has a structure such that the group 4 transition metal is bonded to a cyclopentadienyl ring in an η1 mode. The above-mentioned catalyst exhibits high activity for both of addition homopolymerization of a cycloolefin and addition copolymerization of a cycloolefin with an α-olefin.

    摘要: A norbornene ring-opened polymer hydrogenated product having a syndiotactic structure and a process for producing the same are disclosed. The ring-opened polymer hydrogenated product contains a repeating unit originating from a polycyclic norbornene monomer with three or more rings in the polymer repeating units, having a weight average molecular weight of 500 to 1,000,000, and having a racemo diad proportion of 51% or more. The process comprises a step of polymerizing a polycyclic norbornene monomer having three or more rings by solution polymerization using a group 6 transition metal compound with a hydroxyl group-containing aryloxy group or the like bonded thereto as a polymerization catalyst to obtain a ring-opened polymer and a step of hydrogenating double bonds in the main chain of the ring-opened polymer.

    摘要: The present invention relates to ruthenium complex compound wherein a heteroatom-containing carbene compound having a six-membered ring structure is bonded to ruthenium and a process for the preparation thereof; a process for producing ring-opened cyclic olefin polymer by subjecting a cyclic olefin to ring-opening metathesis polymerization in the presence of such a ruthenium complex compound; and a process for producing hydrogenated product of ring-opened cyclic olefin polymers by hydrogenating the carbon-carbon double bonds of the above ring-opened polymers. The invention gives hydrogenated product of ring-opened cyclic olefin polymers having physical properties different from those of hydrogenated product of ring-opened polymers of the prior art. Particularly, the use of dicyclopentadiene can give a hydrogenated product of ring-opened cyclic olefin polymer excellent in heat resistance, and this product can be advantageously used as parts or formed products for medical appliances or electrical components.
