    摘要: A system and method for determining location of a touch event on or in proximity to a touch sensitive device is disclosed. The touch sensitive device includes row conductors and column conductors that each only transmit or receive signals during a given frame. Each of the orthogonal row signals is transmitted on a respective one of at least some of the row conductors. Signals are received on each of the column conductors an amount of each of the row signals present on each of the plurality of column conductors is detected. Orthogonal column signals are transmitted on the column conductors. Signals are received on each of the row conductors and an amount of each of the orthogonal column signals present on each of the row conductors is detected. The detected amount of each of the orthogonal row signals and the detected amount of each of the orthogonal column signals is used to determine a location of a touch event on or in proximity to the touch sensitive device. At least one of the transmitting and receiving steps avoids simultaneously transmitting and receiving on at least one of the row conductors or column conductors.

    摘要: A sensor for sensing contact with an outside object is disclosed. A sensor stackup has top surface, having an outer skin adapted for contact with the outside object. The stackup also including, a deformable layer below top surface in the stackup, the deformable layer including patches made from conductive or high dielectric material. The stackup further including a capacitive sensor layer below the deformable layer, the capacitive sensor layer comprising conductors that are insulated from the patches. Each of the patches is displaceable with respect to the capacitive sensor layer in response contact with the outside object. The stackup also includes a backing layer below the capacitive sensor layer in the stackup. The sensor further includes capacitive sensor circuitry operatively connected to the capacitive sensor layer, the capacitive sensor circuitry configured to detect changes in capacitive coupling between the conductors of the capacitive sensor layer resulting from displacement of the patches with respect to the capacitive sensor layer.

A capacitive touch sensitive device as disclosed herein includes row conductors and column conductors, a first row signal generator for transmitting a first row signal on a first row conductor, a second row signal generator for transmitting a second row signal on a second row conductor, and a touch processor for identifying a touch event on the touch interface by processing signals present on at least one of the column conductors. The first and second row signals together form a differential row group of signals that cancel each other out or at least substantially mitigate each other so as to reduce cross-talk interference in the sensor.

    摘要: A system and method for distinguishing between sources of simultaneous touch events on a touch sensitive device are disclosed. The touch sensitive device includes row conductors and column conductors, the path of each of the row conductors crossing the path of each of the column conductors. Orthogonal row signals are generated on the row conductors and orthogonal column signals are generated on the column conductors. In an embodiment, an amount of each of the plurality of orthogonal row signals present on each of the plurality of row conductors is detected, an amount of each of the plurality of orthogonal column signals present on each of the plurality of column conductors is detected, and at least one of such amounts is used to associate each of the plurality of simultaneous touch events with a discrete source. The strength of such detected “crosstalk” between row conductors can be used to distinguish two or more touch events, such as by distinguishing a two-handed gesture from a one-handed gesture, distinguishing two touch events as having been initiated by different users, distinguishing a passive object from a hand, identifying a passive object, improving palm rejection and improving accidental-touch rejection.
