Abstract: A method of managing evolved universal mobile telecommunication system terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) capability of a user equipment (UE) is provided that includes switching from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT if the first RAT fails to provide circuit switched (CS) services to the UE, the first RAT and the second RAT being associated with a first public landline mobile network (PLMN). The UE establishes a CS call session with the second RAT. In the meanwhile, the UE receives a network handover command to move to a second PLMN. The UE may also perform a movement from the first PLMN to the second PLMN and connect with a third RAT associated with the second PLMN to continue the CS call session. The UE enables the E-UTRAN capability after moving to the second PLMN to connect with a fourth RAT available in the second PLMN.

Abstract: A method of establishing a bearer in a packet switched mobile wireless communications network comprising a mobile device and a network node, and a corresponding network. A predetermined maximum number of bearers can be established for the mobile device within the network. Bearer information can be sent indicating the predetermined maximum number of bearers, a remaining number of bearers, or that no more bearers can be established. If no more bearers can be established and a further bearer is required a bearer previously established for the mobile device within the network can be released and if required a bearer synchronization procedure can be performed. A further bearer for the mobile device within the network can then be established. Alternatively, if the mobile device determines that an emergency PDN connection is required, it can send a request for a further bearer to the network node. If a current number of bearers established for the mobile device is equal to the maximum number of bearers, the network node can release a previously established bearer establish a bearer for an emergency PDN connection.

Abstract: A customized alerting notification is provided to a user equipment (2) in a wireless communications network comprising a first radio access network (26) and a second radio access network (24). A first message (6, 18, 20) is received from the user equipment at a core network server (4, 16), of the first radio access network on attachment of the user equipment to the first radio access network, the message comprising an indication of a customized alerting notification capability of the user equipment in the second radio access network. In response to initiation of handover of the user equipment from the first radio access network to the second radio access network during an alerting phase of a call initiated from the user equipment using the first radio access network, a second message (12, 22) comprising the indication is sent from the core network server of the first radio access network to a mobility controller (10) coupled with the second radio access network.
