    Abstract: One or more embodiments of the present invention are directed to a liquid crystal display including: a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a first color pixel area, a second color pixel area, a third color pixel area, and a white pixel area on any one of the first substrate and the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. A first color filter is disposed in each of the first color pixel area and the white pixel area, and each of the first, second, third, and white pixel areas includes a plurality of domains, each two adjacent domains having a boundary between them, and the first color filter is disposed at at least one of the boundaries between the domains in the white pixel area.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate on which a plurality of pixel areas are formed; first to fourth color filter layers comprising a plurality of color filters disposed in the pixel areas and having four different colors in four adjacent pixel areas; a plurality of pixel electrodes disposed on the color filter layers corresponding to the respective pixel areas; a second substrate coupled to and facing the first substrate; and a common electrode disposed on one of the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the first to fourth color filter layers are disposed in a 2×2 matrix, and wherein at least one color filter from among the color filters is wider in a row direction and a column direction of the first substrate than the remaining color filters so as to cover a contact point at which the four adjacent pixel areas meet.

    Abstract: In a method of forming an active pattern, a gate metal layer is formed on a base substrate. The gate metal layer is patterned to form a gate line, and a gate pattern spaced apart from the gate line. A gate insulation layer is formed on the base substrate including the gate line and the gate pattern thereon, to form a first protruded boundary surface corresponding to an area including the gate pattern. An amorphous semiconductor layer is formed on the base substrate including the gate insulation layer thereon, to form a second protruded boundary surface corresponding to the first protruded boundary surface. The amorphous semiconductor layer is crystallized by illuminating a laser to the amorphous semiconductor layer on the second protruded boundary surface.
