Abstract: An oil purification filter for purifying a contaminated oil includes a filter body having a first portion and a second portion, where at least the first portion is impregnated with a separation aid. The separation aid is substantially insoluble in the contaminated oil because of its polar properties, and the separation aid is configured to adsorb/absorb contaminating solids or dissolved impurities in the contaminated oil by chemical interactions. The filter body may comprise one or more sheets of cellulose fibers.

Abstract: A solvent extraction system includes an elongated solvent extraction chamber having first and second ends, at least one first port for providing a continuous phase into the solvent extraction chamber and at least one second port for removing content from the solvent extraction chamber, a dispersed phase inlet in fluid communication with the first end of the solvent extraction chamber and a membrane having pores. Diameters of the pores are from 1 to 100 μm and do not differ by more than 20%, and center-to-center distances between the pores are from 10 to 1000 μm and do not differ more than 20%. The membrane is positioned at the first end of the solvent extraction chamber relative to the dispersed phase inlet such that a liquid provided into the solvent extraction chamber through the dispersed phase inlet must pass through the membrane.

Abstract: In a method for reconditioning an industrial oil and in an oil recovery system therefor, a used industrial oil is reconditioned by adding a liquid separation booster to the used industrial oil, and then the separation booster with attracted impurities is separated from the used industrial oil while leaving at least one specific additive in the oil. The separation booster is designed to attract impurities in the used oil while not attracting at least one specific additive in the oil.

Abstract: A liquid composition for use in purifying an oil contains a polar polymer, a surface active hydrotrope/solubilizer, and a co-tenside. The polar polymer may be a polyalkylene glycol, such as polyethylene glycol. The hydrotrope/solubilizer may be an anionic sulfonic acid, a phosphate ester-based substance or a non-ionic surfactant from the poly-glycoside family. The co-tenside may be at least one amphoteric co-surfactant, such as sodium caprylimino dipropionate.
